This item was fairly easy to assemble. I had it all together in less than 10 minutes. No tools required for assembly.
Its very light weight and very easy to maneuver.
Its very fast, I had my blade setting to the lowest hight and was able to arrogate a large part of my lawn in about 15 minutes. I do recomment you use the dethatch attachment first before you arogate your lawn as it moves a lot of the grass our of the way. I made a lot grass trimmings by arogating first. The catch basket will fill up quickly, which is great because you know it's removing a lot of thatches. The motor is very powerful, my grass is old and has been neglected for a long time. The dirt is hard and very compact. I really wasn’t able to snag it up on anything, I wasn’t able to bog it down. It spins fast and hard and moves a lot of air, I’m assuming to cool the motor.
The only cons really: depth/height I wish the arogation attachment blades were a bit bigger to penetrate the dirt more. I also wish the catch basket was bigger but this item is so light that it would probably fall over from the weight.
The quality is really nice, everything is well designed, its so light that pushing it is easy. Its also very simple in function. It comes with an allen key with a key holder to swap out the attachment between dethatch and arogation. It literally took me less than a minute to switch the attachments.
Overall I am very happy with it, I look forward to doing this more often with how light and fast this made the job. Absolutely no buyers remorse.
This is honestly the best investment my fiancé and I made. We recently bought a house and our backyard was basically yellow. We thought we’d have to spend tons of money landscaping, but we found out that the grass was being suffocated by grass clippings left by the previous owner.
We have a 1/2 acre so it’s taken awhile to dethatch the yard. Totally worth every penny. The machine is very lightweight (although it was a little confusing to put together). The bag is amazing and I I love that it has multiple settings.
This is seriously the best investment we’ve made and are so happy we have a yard again!
I bought this tool believing it was an aerator which puts holes in the lawn. But this only scratches the surface to allow the roots to get air. It works as indicated even though the description indicates it to be an aerator. I am satisfied with the purchase and used it to prepare the lawn for reseeding.
Overall excellent value, especially if it holds up over the years. For what it wold have cost to rent one a handful of times, I own one that I can use as many times as needed.
PROS - works well. easy height adjustment. easy to change the barrel. easy to operate. folds down for small storage footprint. CONS - the catch bin is unnecessary - after a little use, you will take it off because the thatch collects far too fast - the best method is to rake it all up after you are done dethatching the grass.
This machine is a dream come true. I moved to an area with pervasive crabgrass. Unfortunately the previous owner had done nothing to eradicate it. As a DIYer, I refused to call in the "Big Guns". After a month of using a detaching rake and a flare up of arthritis in my hands, admittedly I was getting very discouraged. When I saw this machine, I was getting desperate and ordered it. It is 10 x faster and can't compare to doing it manually. It is very powerful. I know some people have complained about the bagger being too small but I find it adequate enough. If it were larger, it would make the machine harder to push. Anyone who takes pride in their lawn should own this, weeds don't stand a chance. Donna L.
This unit was easy to assemble, thanks to detailed instructions. First time usage generated five large yard bags of dead grass. The electric motor seemed powerful—did not bog down at all, and it never shut down due to overheating (as some other brands have reported). I started out with the grass catcher attached; however, it filled up pretty quickly. I would imagine, however, after I’ve used it a few times on my yard, less and less dead grass will be accumulated, and I can attach the grass catcher again, preventing the need to rake afterward. I’m very happy with it thus far, and the 3-year extended warranty will ensure that I am happy for years!
the basket that holds what it pulled up is small so it has to be emptied often. It fills up fast especially if the level is lower do to thicker grass. What I did was go one length with it set at the height that was needed and then went back over the same spot with it raised up to pick up what may be left behind. The next section that I do the grass is thinner so it won't fill up as fast. I haven't used the aerator yet but will the next time I am out there.
Used it today for the first time today, if using in spring cut the grass as low as possible and wait till your 2nd or 3rd cut before scarcifying. I used on the first setting and had to empty the bag every 35 feet the only draw back of this machine. It works great, filled 10 leaf bags in 2 hours. The cord makes maneuvering a bit of a challenge but got a system going.
Wow. This little guy is amazing and really does a great job dethatching. Obviously this isn’t a commercial sized machine, but it is perfect for home use. If you’re serious about keeping your yard clean and healthy this is a vacuum for your grass. We bought our home last year and the previous owners never took care of the yard outside of mowing. Tons of moss and weeds and built up clippings. Very acidic soil. After moss and weed treatment, dethatching with this guy and topsoil and seed I have the best yards in our neighborhood. The scarifier is fine. Mainly just chops up the soil similar to a tiller. I would prefer an actual aerator. But highly recommend this product.
