3.0 out of 5 starsIt is charged and ready, I hope.

I hate the directions with this oriental stuff. I think it is good, but I hope I don't have to find out the hard way. It is not easy to clip onto battery posts, and the cables are nearly too short for the job. It is compact, but awkward to use.
I fortunately haven't had to test the "jump starter" capabilities of this product yet--and hopefully never will--but it gives real peace of mind to have a jump starter not reliant on having another car, especially since I usually have my two young children in the car with me. So smart that this product also includes a power source to charge my phone AND a super bright flashlight--both great safety features for emergencies. When I hooked up my phone to charge, it took a minute for my phone to show it was charging but that feature worked great once it got going. The light has three settings (solid, flash and strobe) and is really bright (included a photo)--I'd easily be able to flag down someone for help after dark if needed or just use it to find that lost marker under the seat. : ) I am a little worried the car might get too hot for the device in summer and too cold for it in winter but I haven't been able to test that yet; instructions state storage temp should not exceed 120 degrees F and the operating temp is stated as a low of 0 degrees F so that range is encouraging regarding this concern. Five stars for all the tested features!
I'll be honest. I really didn't think it would work. I have a 2016 Honda Accord that randomly without warning just doesn't start. I was told I have one of the best batteries available so I don't know what is going on with it. I will randomly just try to start the car and nothing will happen. Completely dead. I put this on and it started right away. I left the car on for over an hour and drove around to get it in working order.
****WARNING!**** Keep it on your battery for about 5-10 minutes. I took it off almost right after it started and it refused to kick my power steering on. I drove for a while thinking I had a power steering fluid leak not realizing it just didn't have enough power running to kick in my power steering. I turned off the car. Tried to restart and it had to be jumped again. This time I let it stay on for about 10 minutes and revved the engine a couple times. That did it. My learned mistake is your gain. If you are having the same issues as me. I highly suggest getting this. It should be a basic in your car with cables and an air compressor for tires. With this my emergency car kit is complete.
I have a 2011 Infiniti G37 convertible that I don't use much in the winter. I make an effort to go to the car and start it every couple of weeks to charge the battery. This year I failed big time. I didn't start it up very often and in March I left town for a month and left it in the drive way. When I returned it was absolutely dead. Not only would it not start but low current inside lights in the car didn't come on either. The battery was completely and totally dead. I thought about buying a new charger or having a service station come over and give it a jump start, but I thought I needed a better solution. So here's is a great test case... does this Vekkia thing start a car with a completely, totally dead battery? Not only that, but the temperature was about freezing. The only thing I had going for me was that the battery was only a couple of years old.
I decided to order this charger fully expecting that it wouldn't actually start the car, but I could send the product back to Amazon for a refund. After all, how could a battery charger this small actually start a totally dead battery? So here is what happened. First, read the manual thoroughly, it is not your typical charger. I knew that in theory this should work because I lithium ion battery is capable of a very high surge current.... that's why these batteries have sometimes exploded... it all depends on the quality of the battery design.
This charger is incredibly small and uses what looked to me like wires that were too thin to handle this much current. On the other hand the wires to the clamps that hooked to the battery were very short and I think this made up for it. You will need to put the charger on a flat surface inside the engine compartment to charge your battery, not outside the engine compartment because the cables are too short. This small size is part of what it makes it possible to put the whole thing it such a tiny case.
So, I charged up the Lithium Ion battery in the charger using a micro USB charger (it also has USB-C.... hooray!) and took it outside to the car. The instructions say to try starting it a couple times using the default charge and if that doesn't work to try the "force start" mode. I tried the regular mode and the car lay completely dead. No sound, no turning partly over, nothing. I was thinking I'd have to send this back for a refund.
But before I did this I tried the "force start" method. That involved holding down a button on the charger for 3 seconds and then trying to start the car within the next 30 seconds. I heard the car turn over and try to start, but no luck. I decided to try it again...... Vroom Vroom, the car was running. I was astounded. This device really did work and I will never part with it again. I took the charger inside to recharge it and it looked like I had run it down from 100% to about 75%. I recharged it and will store it in the car from now on. I'm amazed and I won't be without. it. Well done!
Great carry case, very well constructed and easy to. A few years ago my battery died and left me stranded on a cold dark night. With this jump starter, I have the piece of mind that I wont have to worry about that happening again.
Updated: brought this to a griends auto sho to test this on a dead car battery and it worked as described. Hooked up to car and let it charge the other battery for ac bout 3 -4 minutes and it started on the first try
I haven't used this to jump a vehicle yet, but I have used it for my phones, and it works better than my other portable batteries. They show to be 3000mAH capacity with an output of 2A. This one charges faster and can do it more often. I charged my Galaxy 7 active from 1% to 100 in under 3 hours and used less than 25% of the THOR2000. I don't have any vehicles with dead batteries but just thought I can try it out on my sons Go cart and my riding mower. So I'll.get back in day or two and give more of a review, Right now its impressive for charging devices.
I have had some issues with my daughters car occasionally needing a jump start. Consequently we usually keep jumper cables in the car. A couple times we needed to jump start and had to push the car to a better spot to reach the battery of the other car. This portable jump starter completely solves that problem as well as the need of having another car to use. The fact that battery also has 2 ports to also charge 2 phones etc is a great feature. Keeping this in the car will give me peace of mind and security being on the road.
Full disclosure: LuminoLite asked me to review this and reimbursed my purchase (before I wrote the review).
This battery pack comes in a small, sturdy zipper case, with the short jumper cables and accessory charging cables neatly organized inside along with the pack itself. I like having the USB outputs on it just in case. The battery pack is smaller than I expected and seems well-built. It also allows you to check the battery status directly, with LEDs indicating at 25% increments. I didn't really need another flashlight onboard but I suppose it doesn't hurt.
Overall my initial impressions are good. I am wary about the longevity of these packs however, as I've been failed by a few different brands before. I will leave it in my truck long-term and I'll try to remember to check it every few months and update this review.
I have my battery charging now but as of today, I have not needed a boost. It is very compact, which I like. It does not take up nearly as much room as bulky jumper cables. It arrived when expected and looks exactly like the picture advertised. **update - I was able to help a friend who needed a boost. This little gem in wonderful. It boosted her car off in no time at all. Very easy to use. I am extremely happy with my purchase.
This is a lifesaver. The entire thing is small and compact, making you think, how is this going to start a car battery? Don't be fooled. It literally started a dead battery that had sat there for 5 or 6 months. It has a boost button so if it doesn't work regularly, it surges all the power at once, and wala. And after that it only used one thing of battery. It holds a charge forever and you can charge usb. Love this!
