USB Device Not Recognized
Reviewed in the United States on May 8, 2020
Mic is unusable because "USB device not recognized". Rated solely on this factor as could not test anything else. Did not plug and play. Windows 10. Did full update to latest version Windows 10 1909. Restarted computer multiple times. Tried every USB port on front and back of computer. Still does not recognize USB device. Uninstalled and reinstalled "unknown" device multiple times. No driver update on manufacturer website. Windows reads latest Windows Drivers are up to date when trying to manually update the device driver through Windows Device Manager. Bought for kid who does online gaming and vlogging. Dell Inspiron 3847, Windows 10 1909 (latest). Also tried on laptop same result. USB device not recognized, mic does not work.
So bought a similarly identical mic from another manufacturer and it plugged and played and worked fine. Didn't want to take the chance that this same mic/brand would not work again. So it is possible this was a single defect mic or for some reason was not compatible with the pc, but the compatibility issue does not seem likely as the computer is modern with up to date hardware and software, and now another similar mic is working with this pc. More than likely there was some defect issue with this mic. In the past my kid also used a USB headset with mic on this same computer which also worked fine.
SUDOTACK contacted me and told me that there is a 12 month warranty for this mic. This is good that they have this and probably if they sent me a new one or fixed the one I bought it might work fine. However I already have bought and received another mic.
Attempt to return item:
Scheduled a UPS pickup for returning this because my kid is several thousand miles away from me. After 8 days UPS did not come to pick up the bad mic. It was supposed to be picked up the next business day. If they did come they did not leave a shipping label as it said they would when I scheduled the pickup option through Amazon returns. UPS also did not call my phone as the return instructions said they might when they attempt to pick up the package. Called UPS yesterday and spoke to them for about 25 minutes. UPS was professional and helped me with the issue. The person I spoke to searched for info for some time and then came back to me and said it looks like they did attempt to pick up the package. He said if I want to have another pickup attempt I would have to pay them for each attempt, or I could contact Amazon and Amazon would probably pay for it. Contacted Amazon through chat and they were friendly and helpful and scheduled a new pickup for the next business day. Lets see if UPS picks the item up this time. Refund is pending until the item is picked up by UPS.
Amazon refunded the cost of this item today about 10 days after I had scheduled a UPS pickup return. "Refunded. A refund will appear on your bank account or credit card statement within the next 7 days."
Today is also the "next business day". Without informing me my ex took the mic package to a "shipping place" as my kid described it. I don't know if it was a UPS store or another shipping place, and I don't know if it was sent back to Amazon, or where it was sent. My kid told me after my ex took the package to that shipping place, UPS then showed up at their house to get the package but it was already gone.
Ordered on April 30th. Item arrived May 7, Didn't work. Troubleshot the mic until May 8. Scheduled UPS return pickup on May 8, next business day May 11. No sign of UPS. Called UPS May 16 rescheduled pickup. May 18 ex took package to some shipping place, don't know what place or where it was shipped to, UPS showed up at the house after the package was already gone.
