This product is advertised to be BPA-free, yet the box reads at the bottom a warning that the use of this product can expose you to lead and Bisphenol A (which is BPA)...?
Edited on 12 June 2019: After leaving this review, Miroco's customer service contacted me "to make things right", offered me a full refund and a free replacement MI-EK002 kettle which is made of a borosilicate glass container. The box of the MI-EK002 does not have any BPA or lead exposure warning printed on it. I truly appreciate this level of customer support, yet this does not change my review that the MI-EK003 kettle came with a clear BPA and lead exposure warning, but as of today, is still marketed as BPA free here on Amazon.
I admit I'm picky about my kettles. This one is probably great for 99% of people. I liked that it held a good amount of water without being huge. It also looks nice and definitely boils water quickly. I timed it against my old reliable kettle, and they were the same.
But... 1. The lid doesn't open as far as I like. I fill my kettle from a water purifying pitcher, so it's not as easy from the tap. 2. The handle is thicker than I like for my petite hands. 3. It's a bit too heavy for my wrists (joint issues) while also not balanced well. It's bottom heavy. 4. Finally, the spout is too broad, so water doesn't flow out in a thin line.
If your body is messed up like mine, maybe choose something else.
Customer service was great & replaced our first kettle quickly but I am only giving 3 stars bc the bottom of the kettle becomes discolored where the heating element is. Same thing happened to our first kettle. Figured if it happened w both then they probably all do that. So not the best quality. I do like that it's sleek & clean looking but will likely replace soon due to that rust appearance (it's not rust just looks a little like it) at the bottom from heating element.
I like the look, the ease of use, but I wish it maintained a boil for at least one minute. Just heating water was not my main goal - I'd like to boil......before pouring it into my mug for tea. It works for now, and the price was ok. it's good that the base is separate.
Cons- This kettle is very loud while heating up. It also has marks On the inside that look like rust after a few uses. The marks come off a little but not fully after cleaning. The top doesn’t fully open so it’s slightly annoying to fill up and empty.
It's attractive looking as it sits on the counter and it heats quickly, but the lid doesn't pop all up way up to a 90-degree angle, so you have to angle it just right under the light to see where the mark is on the inside showing the minimum level water level. Also, you need to heat a minimum of approximately a half-liter, so I end up heating more water than I need for a single mug.
