Been almost 2 months since I ordered. Wanted to give time before my review. I would love to give 5 stars but only going to give 3. The 3 stars in relation to pros is 1. great sound and the sub adds a lot of depth for a bedroom. 2. compact and Echo Plus fits nice on a night stand. Sub fits nicely under my bed frame. I looked for something like this over 4 years ago. Wish this would have been around then. 3.easy to use Alexa and Amazon music.
The Cons: 1. was not that easy to set up. I've set up many other Alexa devices and they went much easier. Took me over an hour to set these up. 2. The group of speakers, including the sub, only work as a group with Amazon music. Does not work as a group via Bluetooth devices. This is a major negative. Means that to use them as a set for the quality sound you are handcuffed to Amazon music. Sure, you can connect either or both of the Echo Plus to Bluetooth but then you have no sub. 3. the volume cannot be fine tuned at very low levels for listening to music at low volume. Bought these for the bedroom to primarily listen to music while falling asleep. The volume level at .5, 1, 1.5 or 2.0 can be a vast deference in volume levels. The app or speakers do not allow for smaller intervals between volume levels. This is also a major negative. 4. NOT READY FOR PRIME TIME. Amazon rushed this product to market before it was ready. I keep hearing it will get smarter and greater Bluetooth capabilities are on the way. Stop rushing products to market before they are ready. Please get upgrades for these speakers and app ready to use Bluetooth with the whole set and better volume adjustments at lower listening levels.
I almost returned them for these reasons but decided to stick it out.
Overall: these are great sounding speakers for a bedroom but there are still some problems that Amazon needs to fix. Go ahead an purchase if you get a great price and you can wait for enhancements.
I have the 2 Echo Plus speakers with the sub-woofer. I use them primarily to listen to Spotify and keep the mics turned off so control them through the Spotify and Alexa apps on my phone.. When the work, the sound is very good. However - they often stop working completely. Sometimes the main speakers will stop but the sub-woofer will keep playing. Right now I am listening to music and as every sounds starts the first few seconds play on the sub-woofer then the main speakers kick in. Other times the volume will raise or lower on its own. The most frustrating is when the speakers just die even though the Spotify app shows that the song is playing. I never have these problems using the same source (Spotify) on Bluetooth devices. Very disappointing, especially for the money I spent, and I regret not doing more research first and buying another system.
I am a huge echo fan, but also a Spotify audiophile. I have 3 speaker groups and 5 separate echoes throughout my home. Spotify will only play individual echoes, or sometimes Spotify everywhere. I am disappointed that speaker groups and room set ups in the Alexa app don't work with Spotify connect. It only works with Amazon Music. In hindsight, I should have spent more and bought Sonos. Echo isn't really Spotify compatible.
