Not a bad food, but not for every dog
October 3, 2018
I ordered this for a client, boarding her dog with me in my home, who forget to pack the dog's food.
Generally, I find this brand to be a bit too high in protein for dogs, (over 27%) and to use protein sources which are harder to digest and a bit silly. Domestic dogs never fed on things like deep sea fish or alligators...neither did wild dogs or wolves, for that matter.
If a dog does not require a low-carb, high-protein diet to lose weight (aka doggie Atkins), then the dog will end up with damage to his or her system from too much protein and not enough healthy carbohydrates, just like humans can.
Humans fed dogs leftovers, not the rich resource, meat, for thousands of years, as we created the modern domestic dogs we have today. We used dogs to get meat, but did not let them eat it, much less the best bits. We rewarded them with other stuff, in the Old World, mainly things like rice, barley, oats, etc. Corn was not around there, so many dogs do not do well on corn.
Dogs can have kidney stones, bladder stones, crystals, and other organ issues from trying to eliminate excess protein from their bodies.
This is my opinion on this, also based on vet feedback and science.
