I ordered this as I needed something to sleep on for a few days till I could get my bed into my home.I am a fat man of 220 pounds. I slept on this and found it to feel almost like I was sleeping in my own bed. The worst thing for me was just getting down and back up as I am a bit fat and old to boot. I can highly recommend it.
I will never buy a trifold mattress again. as you sleep, The gap gradually increases. It gets so large that you wake up in pain. Mine tour at the gap is well due to how it stretches when you sleep on it. I had to sew it back together. Still not comfortable because of the gaps where it folds.
I was a little concerned when I received this 6 inch tri-fold mattress via UPS. It was boxed inside a cardboard box that was inside a larger cardboard box. The inner box was only about 12 inches by 12 inches and about 31 inches long. I was thinking how in the world can a 6 inch thick mattress be contained inside of this. The mattress was "rolled" up inside a plastic bag and when I took it out of the inner cardboard box and unfurled it, it was only about 1 inch thick. It of course expanded when I tore the plastic bag and the "vacuum seal" was broken. Within 30 to 60 minutes, it expanded to it's full 6 inch thickness. As for comfort, this mattress is unbelievably comfortable for laying on and sleeping. I'm 6 feet tall and weigh 205 lbs. and there is more than adequate support for me. I placed it on a padded carpeted floor and slept extremely well on it. My only complaint was that upon removing the mattress from the plastic bag, I discovered a small (approximately 1 inch) tear in the cover near one of the handles. Not a deal breaker for me but I wish it wasn't there. Overall, for the price and product, this is a good deal. Had it not been for the 1 inch tear near one of the handles, I would have gladly rated this 5 stars.
Edit: Company sent second mattress within 48 hours and since the first one is great, I’m leaving this at four stars even though I haven’t opened it yet. I do wish the gaps in the mattress weren’t so big, but I am hoping with the mattress protector and sheets, it won’t be an issue. As for the mattress, it’s really thick and soft and feels durable. Thank you for such a prompt response! Overall, I recommend the product.
Part of original review (problem solved)
Ordered two six inch twin XL, paid for two, really needed two, opened the box to set up my kids sleeping area and there was only one bed in it. Two kids. One bed. Obviously, I am not happy as this was actually a very sensitive time for my kids and myself, and it was going smoothly until one child suddenly had no bed. If it’s handled promptly and I receive the correct product the first time, and it works, I will correct this review and rating.
I bought this to take when I visit my mom in her assisted living studio apartment. It was the thickest one I could find .. the only drawback is that it is heavy to carry for me since I am a 70-year old woman. But once I get it there, it will stay and fold up and go in her closet. Overall very pleased.
The mattress arrives with a need to expand first. Once unfolded and expanded we put on a regular twin fitted sheet which is too large but still workable. Overall, the mattress is good for occasional use. We had someone using it for a couple nights in a row but ultimately felt that that was just enough time. It wasn't as comfortable as a regular mattress but would be good for packing up and taking to a sleepover or even camping, but not routine use. The portability was fantastic and makes it much better than sleeping bags or thinner, portable camping pads.
So far I only used the mattress for a couple of nights but found it to be very comfortable. I was torn between getting this or the 4". Thinking I should have gone with the 4" but wasn't digging the white cover. Thought it would get dirty quicker. Here are my positives and negatives:
Positives: 1. - 6" thick makes it very supportive and comfortable. (note I only weight around 150lbs) 2. - Nice quality quilted cover
Negatives: 1. - The handles can't really be used to lift the mattress. If you do I imagine it wouldn't take long to tear at the attachment points, which need reinforcing. There isn't an extra layer of fabric where the handles attach. 2. - When I purchased there was a cover shown next to it, making it appear there is a cover for it but they do not make a cover for this size. This makes it difficult to move around and store.
I'd say the mattress is worth it if you have the room to store it and intend to mainly use it at home. For traveling I would go with the 4" and cover.
This mattress is really meant for occasional use. It's very sturdy and very comfortable. I do recommend it; however, we've used it for several months now, daily, and the fabric holding the "gaps" together is losing steam. If you just put this on the floor, it will not be able to withstand constant use. If you put it on a low-frame for support, it'll last longer. To be clear, the foam of the mattress is still in VERY good shape. It's the fabric that connects the squares that is starting to lose firmness and is stretching.
Really really comfortable, we used it to replace the mattress on a 30” day bed /couch. We covered it in 1” of foam and then fabric. It’s the most desired seat in the house now, and super nice for sleeping on.
Bought as extra sleeping area for my RV. Tried it on the floor and was very comfortable(slept on it all night). Also, like the tri-fold feature as it is easy to store . Only concern is the strength of built in handles in the cover as the mattress is fairy heavy, but so far so good. Did not purchase the carry case which would probably prevent tearing the built-in handles.
Had house guests for a week and bought two of these plus a platform mattress. This slides around a lot on the frame so I had to tie it down, but it's comfortable for a guest room and folds right up when guests are gone.
