Some might think that I was living in the dark ages using my X10 home automation services. I refused to turn to web-enabled devices because "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". When the heart of my system began to no longer control some of my modules, I spent time looking to replace it with a different controller. Then I saw the Echo devices on sale and an option to purchase a smart plug for only $10 more, I decided it was time to move from the stone age to the 21st century. I am so happy with this change and now have a very easy-to-manage smart home system. But that is only the beginning of what Alexa and the Echo units can do. I now have Alexa play my thunderstorm white noise at night replacing my CD player. I no longer need to be in the car or drag out my computer to stream Sirius-XM. Alexa does that for me. The only negative thing I have to report is about my waiting so long to take this step. Once you have your own Echo, Alexa will be there to do your bidding.
