So far about a half hour test this morning. Connected to a scanner for the test. Clean signal with clear sound. So far very happy with the workmanship and product. I like that I can use the accessory plug or direct clamp to the Battery. I haven't tried the USB plugs yet but what a bonus. Small, light weight and so far, very light load, the fan has not turned on. Updated 5-23-19 I tried this out on a extra stereo receiver I have the other day, no outside noise was detected and worked great. I then connected a halogen light, 4 ft, and ran it for about 45 minutes at the same time as the stereo and it worked great. I am very happy with this purchase and now have bought a 1000 w, can’t wait to step my small solar setup further
The 500W inverter itself is a good product. The delivered voltage is 114.5 VAC as measured by a standard voltmeter. The amperage draw is 0.0 A with the switch off and 0.3A with the switch on and under no load. The fit and finish are excellent. The battery clamps are very sturdy and resemble good quality jumper cable clamps.
I am using it with a constant 400W load, and it works flawlessly. The fan cycles between not needing to run and running on low. I highly recommend this product for use with its battery clamps up to 500W, or with the cigarette lighter plug for loads up to 100W.
The instructions and customer support are bad. The instructions are very brief, leave out many important details, and do not cover the warranty. Over 2 weeks ago I asked how to register my purchase for the warranty, and a technical question about the correct wire gauge for installing the inverter permanently in my car. My questions were quickly acknowledged, but I am yet to receive useful answers. You can find out about inverters in general from the internet.
The ugly part is if your personal knowledge about inverters is low and you are planning on buying a large unit or using permanent wiring in your car. The wire guage needed will probably be larger than what you expected, particularly if the run is long (i.e., over 6 feet). The wire will exceed the cost of the inverter. Similarly, you should check the amperage output of your cars alternator to be sure that it has sufficient capacity over the running requirements of your car. These comments are true about any inverter, and become more critical if you are buying a larger inverter. This is a product that requires a lot of thinking before ordering. The risks are fire, unit failure, alternator damage, and battery drainage. These risks are not adequately addressed in the instructions.
I gave my assessment at 4 stars because the product is well designed and built. If you buy an inverter without a good knowledge base, you could be disappointed, and one star may be too high a rating for your experience.
The inverter seems to be well built, from its heavy aluminum body to its user replaceable fuse, it feels solidly made. I can't really say if it's durable yet since I've only had it for about a month. It checked all the boxes that I wanted: 1) has heavy duty metal cable clips 2) user replaceable fuse 3) has both USB and 120V ports
Company refuses to honor their 18-month warranty. I've been going back and forth in an email for literally months and they keep pretending they don't understand or can't find the order. As far as this specific inverter, as I've tried a few, it's really not capable of what it's rated for. It will randomly fail on something that pulls less than 100w. I found the 750w inverter from harbor freight to work much better and it's around the same price but has a much larger capacity. Now I have three of these small inverters taking up space in a drawer.
Edit: it took months and a one-star review but I was finally contacted by someone that was happy to offer a refund and fix the problem.
I like the fact that this is a high quality product and works well for my buffer but i got this to be a universal inverter that could handle any device when using in the car. Since most of the cars 12V power outlets are capped at 10A or so you wont get the full 500W out of this inverter, which is not the inverters fault but for that reason BESTEK provides an alligator terminal cable to connect to the battery which is very short. I would have appreciated if that cable was long enough to be routed inside so i could use it on the go. The other thing is for a 500W inverter i would want a pure sine wave rather than modified. That really limits the usage of this product.
Very low noise easy to use in the car works well the only issues I saw was this should Handel 500W but when I connect 150W heat pad does not even come on it turns off But works good for very low wattages use
horrible product went through two of them brand new and neither one of us and work finally went with a different brand and got one that worked. the cooling fan never turned on. I had issues with mine but I think it may have been a manufacturing defect that was fixed however the customer service was excellent it took a while to get back. I think that was due to vivid 19. However they even refunded half the product purchase for me although I had already disposed of the product. the customer service is excellent, if you have a problem I'm sure they will take care of it.
This red inverter have 2 usb, and 2 110 outlets. This replaced my 400W unit which got fried. I do not use the usb ports, just the 2 110v. I use this to power my 40W aerator in my aqua pond pool. My fish are happy, and they have more energy to eat more. The fish are growing faster. Have it for a month. When the sun is nice and strong, I'll hook up an extra 80W pump for the growth bed.
Almost perfect, may have got a defective unit? Just got this today and installed it and runs what I need to. My only complaint is although it is quiet my unit I receive emits a high pitch almost dog whistle dog from it, luckily when I have the stereo on or while driving it kind of drowns it out.
