I was initially hesitant to purchase this Yoga DVD because I have two other of Jane Adams videos (which I love) and feared this would be redundant. It is, by far, my most favorite Yoga video (and I own a number of others). As is typical of Jane Adams, her cues are excellent and her explanations of poses and flows are enlightening; but this video goes beyond and includes excellent sequences. It also goes way beyond beginner level, but in a challenging, yet assessable and instructional manner. Her recommendation to start with Disc One is spot on as the entire two disc video builds from one practice to the next. I recommend this DVD for all levels of Yogis and if you only have the opportunity to own one DVD, Yoga for Beginners by Jane Adams should be that ONE!
I have Jane Adams’ Gentle Yoga DVD and love it, so I was thrilled to learn she has released another (Jane , if you’re reading this, It would be great if we could sign up for an email list to get notifications when you’re releasing a new DVD). Her practices are so relaxing and effective. I want to be flexible and strong, without feeling like I have to stretch beyond the limits of my flexibity. Jane is encouraging an gives different options for your own level of flexibility. I particularly love the lying practices. I did the Lying Poses for Flexibilty practice today and I feel incredibly relaxed...like I had an amazing massage. Finally, the setting for this DVD, like some of her other DVDs, is gorgeous. In the practice I did this evening, a deer even pokes out from the woods to see what’s going on.
I give this dvd (and all of Jane’s DVDs), my highest recommendation, and I hope she continues to produce them.
DVD was received before it's ETA. I was looking for something literally for basics. As in...this is what the move is called, this is how you do it, this is the benefit from it. I tried another "beginner" DVD a few years back and got rid of it. Don't tell me we're doing a specific position I have no clue what you're talking about, and attempt to do it while my head it completely facing the opposite direction of the TV! So I figured I would give this one a try. Exactly what I was looking for. Goes through all the basics prior to piecing them all together. Makes the yoga I have through the 21 Day Fix make more sense. Lovely background visuals and audio. Her voice is very calming. Would definitely recommend this for the true beginner!
OK so I've tried yoga a few times, found it totally boring. I never really knew if I was doing the poses correctly, never really experienced any results to write home about. I have a back issue that's getting worse with age and I knew if I just could figure out how to stretch my body out it would definitely help. Gave this a try. This instructor rocks! Very easy steps tells me exactly how to do every pose, how to put my hands, feet how to breath everything, she does it in a slow comforting way. I am not bored! Even the 28 min routine went very quickly, I have found that after every routineI am stretched out and relaxed. I did the upper body strength and stretch routine I actually felt like I just had a massage, can't wait to do the other routines, my back is already feeling better.
I recently purchased this video and love the routines that Jane Adams has provided on the DVDs. I find them to be invigorating and energizing. Each segment provides a complete workout for me, and after each one I feel limber and flexible. The workouts are great for those of us who have busy schedules and don't have a lot of time to exercise.
Additionally, Jane's style of presentation provides a relaxing atmosphere, as her voice is soft and soothing. The backdrop of these DVDs is incredible, and I love looking at the lake and mountains while doing my workout. This video is perfect for me, and I always go back to it when I need a boost.
This is the 2nd Jane Adams Yoga DVD I have purchased. She offers 9 different practices which I love because I can choose between them depending on time and need. Jane is an expert at explaining how to complete each pose. She describes each pose in vivid detail and allows you to examine how you are performing each movement before moving to the next. I find that I improve each pose every time I repeat one of her practices. I am an active person and have been doing Jane's Yoga for 6 months now. I have gained so much in my upper body strength and flexibility. I am very impressed that I can get those results so quickly! I highly recommend Jane's DVDs for anyone. Even if you are not a beginner you will gain from this DVD.
I have done all of the practices on this dvd and am happy with them. The scenery is such a treat and you get a visit from a deer and some red canoes! I think this is doable for most people. I was disappointed that Jane states in her "Is this dvd right for you" it would be too difficult for those over 70! I am almost 69 and believe it IS doable for those over 70. Clearly if you are new to yoga or do not exercise you should start with something easier. I find this in the beginner range as the title states. It is very relaxing and a bit challenging at the same time.
The variety of routines in this yoga set makes it easy to select just the one I want for that day: maybe my neck is sore, or I need to stretch my legs, or my back wants to be relaxed, or this is just a stressful day. Every class is presented at a good pace, with excellent descriptions of how to pose. The scenery is lovely. I would recommend this program for anyone who wants to get started in yoga and also to anyone who wants a relaxing break in their daily routine.
I am not new to yoga, and took a weekly class for about 8 months. However my teacher has taken a leave and I was left without an option for another class without a long drive to the next town. I was fortunate to find this DVD at Amazon. I find it is not as strenuous as my weekly class, BUT I find I look forward to doing yoga daily with Jane Adams in the comfort of my own bedroom. Her voice is soothing and her directions are very clear. I find I do not always have to watch the screen and can just listen to her. There are 9 different practices so I choose the one I am in the mood for. If I feel lazy I can just do an easy floor stretch and often find that after it I feel so much better I do another practice! She gives all the joints of the body a good stretch and I find I am feeling great after each workout. FYI I am 68 and had some hip and knee pain that is improving since I began to do these workouts. It is amazing how much better I feel just stretching. I am so glad I picked Yoga For Beginners by Jane Adams!
I ordered this product and wrote a negative review however I was in error The seller Ms Jane Adams contacted me and offered to send me a new DVD and apologized for me having any trouble with one of her DVD's I had already returned the DVD and received credit and did not feel I should receive a replacement DVD since I had already received credit for my returned DVD. To my surprise Ms Adams sent me a new DVD anyway and a check to compensate me for my inconvenience (which I will destroy) This is a seller who is proud of their product and is going to make sure the buyer is completely satisfied. I don't know what more you can ask from a seller. I have tried to remove the negative comment but was unable to find that review I tried several times but could not find all of my reviews. I hope this new review will remove any negative reviews or comments about Ms. Adams DVDS she exceeds the standards.
