Looking at the number of 1 star reviews, you should have a certain amount of apprehension buying this product. I am pleased to report that based on my experience I believe those issues have been resolved. I was moving from Office for Mac 2011 for the same reasons other reported that it was no longer playing nice with Mojave.

I did glean from many of the reviews that deleting prior versions of MS Office would be a good idea and I did so. I was able to download the product from the link that Amazon provided. It is a 3 GB file, so depending on your download speed you might expect this to take awhile. Mine completed in less than 10 minutes. Then clicking on the install button started the process and in another 10 minutes that was completed. When launching the product for the first time, MS forces you to login to your MS Account to verify the product key and then leaves you alone. I tried to do updates and was pleased that MS provided the latest updates when the product was being downloaded, as there were no updates available.

I am sure there are new features to figure out, but you should not have any trouble banging a letter out as you used to in your prior version of MS Office.

As the two prior reviewers have stated, this product is not ready to be purchased. I have spent the last hour waiting in queue with Microsoft's online chat, only to find out that the technical team has experienced difficulties and the product keys are not able to be verified. Having been a MS Office customer since the days of Windows 95, I'm fairly shocked and disappointed. The rep told me it could be fixed within 3-5 hours, but the first review had an issue two days earlier (10/4/18). I had read that review but figured "hey, it is two days later. surely MS has it resolved by now." Nope.

I'm pretty certain this is my first product review on Amazon after many years of purchases. Wish it had been a more positive one!

UPDATE: The following morning (10/7) I was able to download the software. However, the listing on Amazon shows the package comes with OneNote. No idea what that is, but I can see from my install that OneNote is NOT included. I am pretty much wishing I'd stayed with my Office 2010 Professional Pack.

I've wasted way too much time trying to download this unsuccessfully. This is a travesty that this is being offered by Amazon. Instead of simply letting you download from Amazon (as most everything else does) Amazon sends you to Microsoft. After you sign in to Microsoft, they verify the product code, and then attempt to install Office. The most common message "Try That Again" -- something happened at our end, waiting might help. If I wait long enough I'll be dead. Shame on Amazon for keeping this offering live.

I wish I read the review before spending an hour trying to download with error message after error message from Mircosoft. MAC VERSION CANNOT BE DOWNLOADED Amazon should not be selling this.

Don't purchase this software right now. Whether you buy it from Amazon or Microsoft, you will be unable to download. Both CS reps told me that they are suffering a global outage right now, since our initial contact on 10/22. This is ridiculous.

Finally had to upgrade from my trusty old Office 2008, as it won't play well with Mojave. Saw some bad reviews with download/install issues, so thought long and hard before I took the plunge. I did erase the 2008 version and restart before downloading Office 2019, and everything went off without a hitch. The new version works great. Some things are laid ut a little differently, but I can already tell there is a lot more functionality than I've had for the last 10 years.

I read all the comments about removing old versions of Office before trying to install this new one. I had been using Office for Mac 2008. The new Office installed routinely, and Word and Excel had no problems with existing files I created under the old version. But when I tried to open .PPTX files that I was working on, the new Powerpoint gave an error message. The .PPTX files did open, but a large number of my slides disappeared and none of the images on the slides would display. I reported the failures to Microsoft, but did not receive any feedback.

Unless this is your first Office purchase, DO NOT BUY THIS!.

Microsoft is ceasing to support older versions of Office and now wants you to upgrade to its new version, but unless you have never used Office before, DO NOT DO IT!!! This version is incompatible with documents created in older versions of Office and it will give you the following error message when you try to open them: "[filename] uses a file type that is blocked from opening in this version". In previous versions, one could use the Trust Center to over-ride programs defaults, but it now appears to have currently disappeared and Microsoft Support has no suggestions other than to re-install a previous version of Office (which kind of defeats the objective of upgrading to the latest version).

If you are just starting out, perhaps it will be fine for awhile, but Microsoft has a very bad track record of NOT making updated programs backwardly compatible with older files. In another few years you may find yourself, like me, stuck with thousands of documents that are no longer capable of being opened.

Annoying changes

1/17/18 UPDATE FROM 3 TO 2 STARS

 Used to be you click on desktop icon for the program to expand the LAST file you minimized, don’t know what the algorithm is but it keeps expanding the same file (whether I have 2 or 5 files minimized, it keeps expanding the SAME file, whether I minimized it 1st, last or somewhere in between)
 Can longer customize bullet list by just typing in your bullet
 Can no longer click on page number to open “go page #”
 No longer see page numbers when using scroll bar
 Quitting program erases ALL recent files
 Can right click to get thesaurus BUT NOT dictionary
 There hasn’t been ANY feature that I find ‘better’ than it was before
 Too many darn clicks to get anything done

I hate what they've done with opening/accessing recent files
I am an office power user, had office set up to do work the way that was most convenient for me, so I usually ignore office upgrades for as long as possible. I was happy w/Office 2011 for Mac even though MS no longer issued updates, but decided to upgrade Office after an upgrade to Mojave OS. No problem downloading and installing the upgrade.

This is NOT office for Mac, but a generic cross platform office that works w/Mac & Window, which means that feature wise it is not as good as a dedicated Office for Mac
One of the features I LOVED was opening a program (word, excel or ppt) and having it open with the last file you were using. 99.99% of time, THAT is the file I need, now you have to click on "Recent file" and select the file. but it no longer opens with window sized and located the way you had it.
IF that weren't bad enough over the last few days there is a now a request to "Sign-in" to access recent files. WHY? ALL my files are saved on my computer I have NEVER saved anything to Microsoft Drive and no intention of ever using it. forget about contact office support, they seem (deliberately?) unable to understand what you're asking and offer useless suggestions

I think this subpar office and the push to sign-in EVEN though not necessary, is a push to get you to choose office 365. When I get annoyed enough I will not be switching to 365, I will be leaving office, after a long and very productive relationship
