Top critical review
A very "special" review
May 3, 2019
Well, this is my review on this product. I received something that I do not believe was a real Deebot. What we got was an almost coffee brown color and was not "smart" at all.
It came with some sunflower shells and hair around the brush, but I didn't care (I cleaned it and it was good enough). I preferred the brown color to the shiny piano back like the picture, so I thought that was nice. We charged him up and released him to gobble up all of our dirt. We kept our other sweeping robot under our bird cage, so we put him under there- he did not like that. He would try to get out and would hit the legs until he would manage to get out. So, we changed his base. He had troubles there because it was near a corner. We changed it again, to near the TV stand, and he would hit the TV stand and get stuck. So, we ended up just putting it in front of the bird cage.
Next, we tried to connect it to the app. We were unable to do that. So, the main reason we got it, didn't work. Yes, it comes with a remote, but remotes always get lost. You NEED an iOS or android phone. I use my Chromebook for my Google Homes and other smart products. Customer service said you can not use laptops or tablets for their apps. Plus, if we liked it, we wanted to get my grandma one and we would prefer her not to risk bending over and possibly breaking a hip (again).
OK, now onto the good stuff. We let this little guy clean up on our tile, low pile carpeting and extremely low pile carpeting. I originally thought that all robot sweepers can clean tile with no problems, but this one could not. Our birds like to throw their millet seed hull things on the floor and this would fling them across the floor. It could not sweep them up. We have a dog and it could not sweep up the hair or any of the dirt on the tile. Carpeting, instead of flinging, it would just sweep over it and leave it there. Mine was EXTREMELY loud. Like, regular Shark vacuum loudness. Even with the bedroom door closed, it was loud.
Navigation wise, this was as dumb as they come. Would bump into something, then continue to bump into it for 10 minutes. It got stuck on my TV tray stand thing (next to my wall) and kept trying to go over it for 10 minutes. We couldn't figure out what the sound was and thought we had a rat or squirrel in the wall of the house. I keep adult toys under my bed, away from the delicate eyes of my company, and this little sweeper found a toy and was humping it until its battery died. We couldn't find the robot for the longest time, here he was under the bed, trying to sweep up a dildo. We would have to turn this on and go outside because of how loud it is and would always come inside to new surprises.
Last but not least, the side brushes kept popping off and it would try to eat them, then it would "choke" on them and die.
Let me reiterate though, I think mine was a fake product. It said Deebot, but I don't think it was a real Deebot. I have another Deebot and love it. I also have a genuine Roomba, and prefer my other Deebot over my Roomba. But, if you too buy this Deebot and get a deep coffee brown one, just make sure you return it after a few good chuckles like we had. It was a breeze to return. Amazon;s customer service and Ecovac's customer service was tops. We ended up getting a different model from Walmart today (with a tangle free brush) and the quality is back.
