THE BAREFOOT WEDDING is a very sweet read, almost too sweet. Amy and Travis broke up before they ever got started 3 years ago. She was never sure what happened. She was ready to declare her love for him when he told her he couldn't do this and walked away. She pined for him for 3 years and then it happens that he is working security at the venue of her best friend's wedding. She is going to try to avoid him but that doesn't work.
He is still crazy about her but he just doesn't feel he is good enough. This story has a lot of soap opera drama. She pines for him, he avoids her. She loves him, he loves her, sigh. It was just a bit too sweet and too much drama for me. He thinks he is not good enough because of his past. He was raised by an abusive father and older brother. They beat him daily for no reason except they can. They were also bullies in their neighborhood. They were "monsters". Well, he grew up and was bigger than they were. They thought they would continue to pound on him. One day when they started in he stood up for himself and beat them senseless. Ever since he feels like he was the monster. Really?
Amy's best friend, the bride, decides to help them move things along. I think I just don't care for the sweet version of stories. As stories go, this one was okay, it just wasn't for me. If you enjoy clean, sweet romances, I think you will enjoy this one.
I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 2/8/2021
