Crocs - The ugliest, least fashionable footwear that everyone should own
Reviewed in the United States on July 14, 2018
For many many years, I thought these were stupid, ugly, and had no place in anyone's wardrobe, let alone mine. I bought a pair of these as part of an effort to circumvent a dress code policy at work. The dress code specifically stated that you can't wear sneakers or flip flops, but didn't specifically state any other kinds of verboten footwear. I saw a crocs sized hole in the dress code. My workplace now has a rule where you can't wear crocs unless it's a "casual day" and that pair of crocs helped create a running joke between myself and upper management.
Outside of the professional implications that wearing crocs has had for me, I'm glad I bought them. I wear them on the weekends and am due to buy another pair (there's almost no tread left on the bottom). The crocs are the polar opposite of the shoes I would normally wear (Doc Martens, Converse Chuck Taylor's, etc.) and I love them for that.
Are Crocs cool? Nope.
Do I care? Nope.
If you want to communicate to people that you're not concerned about being fashionable or want to screen out people who would judge you by what you wear - you need to buy yourself a pair of crocs. It's the best money you'll ever spend.
Oh, breaking them in isn't always the most comfortable or easy thing to do. Once you've broken them in, you'll be glad you did.
