Comfortable, Good Sound, Long Battery Life- but Bulky
January 9, 2019
Overall, the mighty Rock E8s are great headphones. Here are the Pros & Cons:
-Attractive. Solidly built and nice matte finish. They are very similar to the Cowin E8s.
-Comfortable. They are over-the-ear, but super soft and comfortable. I have a pair of Corsair gaming headphones that have stiff cuffs and are not nearly as easy to wear for long periods. The ear cuffs are attached by magnets and are snug, but can be easily replaced. No tendency to slip off, though I wouldn't jog with such heavy headphones.
- Great sound. Very little outside noise gets into these, even without noise canceling on.
-Long Battery life. I've been using them for about 2 weeks and have not had to charge them after the first charge. Probably used them for about 10-15 hrs so far.
-BULKY. The headphone ear sections swivel, so they can be made flatter, but the band does not fold, so they are not so portable. The case that holds them is about 10" x 9.5" x 3". It will take up a good portion of a computer backpack. There is a carabiner included so you can have it dangle from another bag if you want.
- TOO QUIET? This is a plus when it comes to sound quality, but you won't be able to hear people and noises around you. This can be dangerous if you are walking outside with them on.
-Admittedly, I have a big neck. But the E8s cannot comfortably rest around your neck (the arch is too small, and the ear cuffs, too big). So, they are either on your head or you have to hold them/put them down somewhere.
- Somewhat heavy, but I find them still comfortable.
-Have not used them for phone calls.
-The noise cancelling feature has not been helpful or necessary for me since they block sound so well as is, and the sound is better without the noise canceling feature on. Maybe on a flight it would be good to use.
-Why Cowin makes these (which seem identical in specs to their Cowin E8 active noise canceling headphones) with only very minor differences in style (the design on the outside of the ear) I don't know.
