Needed a new duvet cover for our guest bedroom. Searched far and wide for one made from a fabric which was good for the planet while impressing our guests (and we've bought a lot over the years). I had never heard of Alterra Pure before, but after doing research into what the founders put into developing their products, I decided to try them out. From the moment of opening the package I was impressed. Obviously, a lot of thought and attention to detail were put into the Alterra Pure duvet covers (and I would assume the sheets also, which will be our next purchase!). The craftsmanship was superb, from the stitching and buttons, to the fabric itself. We followed the directions and washed it before use. In fact after washing a few times over the past month+, the fabric has gotten softer and more comfy after each laundry - unlike many high thread count cotton sheets we've tried before!! The sizing was generous, with no noticeable shrinkage. The best organic bed linen we've ever purchased - clearly made to last, while having the right business ethics to pay attention to where and how the textiles are produced. Looking forward to replacing all our bed linens throughout the house with Alterra Pure!
My family loves the crisp, cool touch percale sheets like what we see in good hotels (which also last a long time). I chose this product as it fit the bill plus it's a 100% certified Organic cotton product. We have put this in our teenage daughter's bed who loves it already in week 1. The sheet is a crisp feel due to the construction and you might want to iron after laundering. Being organic cotton without any harmful chemicals, there is no wrinkle resistant finishes on the fabric. You may therefore want to lightly steam iron after laundering to smoothen out the wrinkles. The feel of the fabric is definitely that of a high quality item.
We really like this duvet cover. The sewing quality is great and the color is as expected. It’s not super soft but percale isn’t meant to be, at least not right away. It is a little noisy or crinkly but we don’t mind. Excellent duvet. I highly recommend it. If we ever need to get another I’ll come back to Alterra.
I'm obsessed with bed linen. It's a serious addiction and I've spent thousands over the years trying to find the perfect sheets and duvet cover. I usually buy my bedding in England where I'm originally from and travel weekly for business.
My husband has non cystic fibrosis and has great trouble at night sleeping and I worry about chemicals for him. After searching for organic cotton I found these and decided to try a duvet cover for the guest room where he sometimes sleeps if I have to be up early for work and need uninterrupted sleep before I splurged on a full set for the king bed. They just arrived and I'm on the first wash and already love the duvet cover. It's very high quality with that lovely crisp feel. I prefer percale cotton over satin type finishes and I always iron all my bedding, even the fitted sheets.
I'm in love with this duvet cover and will be buying it for the king bed. I prefer it to my Frette sheets which cost 3x as much.
It is a fine quality product. It does require ironing after washing. My disappointment is the size. I bought the queen size but found it just covered the width of the queen mattress with no overlap. I recommend ordering the king size instead. Also the packaging seemed excessive, especially considering the facilities' LEED certification.
