Amazon.com: Customer reviews: COWIN E7 PRO [2018 Upgraded] Active Noise Cancelling Headphone Bluetooth Headphones with Microphone Hi-Fi Deep Bass Wireless Headphones Over Ear 30H Playtime for Travel Work TV Computer Phone - Red
The sound is very good and the active noise cancelling is better than I expected. The headphones are very comfortable to wear and completely cover my ear creating a full seal. The depth of the base and clarity of the sound was very surprising when I first put them on. I would highly recommend these headphones to anyone looking for reasonably prices active noise cancelling headphones
UPDATED, active noise cancelling is no longer working. I can hear everything while listening to my music. The sound from these headphones is great, but I wanted a pair of noise cancelling headphones. I tried to contact Cowin through there website but haven't received a reply after 1 week. Now it's too late to return them to amazon. I'm very disappointed.
UPDATED, customer service replaced the non-working product with a working one. Thanks for the quick and easy exchange service.
These are a good choice for a pair of good quality Bluetooth headphones. They are sturdily made and fit my head well. They also sound good to me, whatever that means. Bose headphones are three times as much money. The main difference is in the active noise canceling. These Cowins have a setting for ANC but the ANC works poorly, if at all. More often that not, the ANC adds distortion and clicks into the audio when you move your head, walk or brush up against something like a pillow. I initially thought it was a defective pair and Cowin sent me another one, but the second pair works the same. I didn't have the heart to return them given that Cowin tried so hard by sending me a second pair and the headphones work fairly well.
The good news is that the non-ANC mode (has a switch) sounds very good, the battery life lasts very long (weeks at a time for me, probably 20 hours is accurate), and the item includes a nice case. A couple other quibbles: 1) Once the headphone pairs to a device, you must unpair the headphones at that device ("Disconnect" in iOS or MacOS) before it can be paired to a different device. Thus, switching between an iPhone and a MacBook doesn't work seamlessly like it could. I believe some headphones / speakers can do this on the fly (e.g., my Jawbone Jambox). 2) The ear cups have +/- buttons for advancing or skipping a track or adjusting volume. Stupidly, the track control is the simple click, while volume control is the "long" click. This leads to the user skipping when wanting to adjusting the volume and also inadvertently skipping by tilting one's head against a pillow. The Sony headphones I tried worked the same way. I find this setup not intuitive at all.
Overall, adjusting for the money paid, the headphones work well just not quite ideally. For me, the proof is in the pudding in that I prefer these headphones with their foibles vs. my old wired Bose QC15's. If I had spent more on the QC35's or Sony high end unit, they would have worked better, but I couldn't justify it, especially given that batteries are not user replaceable in any of these Bluetooth headphones and it's a 2 year life cycle for replacement.
I don't have E7 (non-Pro) so I can't compare, but at least I think they did improve the microphone quality because my friend didn't complaint when tested. And it DOES come with a hard case!!! ANC works over expected. Bass is good in normal mode, I can say it has a BASS quality of other non-ANC headphones around $80(not comparing with Sony headphone) Microphone works good (tested) in wireless mode but not available in wired mode. Soft pad is comfortable but your ear will feel hot (in summer) or warm (in winter or outdoor). Mode switching button still need improved, easily misoperating when switching from ANC to BT(Normal) mode, which will shut down the headphone
I bought the Cowin E7 Pro headphones to cancel out some of the general noise in my office so I could focus on my work better. The headphones are comfortable and stylish. The materials and construction seem to be of good quality. Bluetooth connectivity was easy with my phone and laptop so no concerns there. The headphones are quiet as they are without the noise cancelling feature enabled., kind of reminds me of the hearing testing booths at school when I was a kid. The earmuff pads are comfortable and form fitting and help to isolate from the outside environment. With the noise canceling feature enabled, the sound stage is very quiet and the sound quality is pretty good. They are not very loud though, so if you are looking to thrash, they are not really made for that. Podcasts are easy to listen to, Music is crisp and filling. These are not $350 premier noise cancelling headphones however, they are pretty good straight out of the box ad I hope they last for a while.
I am pleased with the sound quality of this headphone. The finishing of the product needs improvement. Cushion on the band needs better quality material to help last longer. It was very easy to start using it. NC isn’t great but hey !... you are looking at a budget headphone. Worth the money and definitely better than E7.
These headphones are awesome with sound. They dont need to be on high volume for you to hear the music loudly and clearly. However, they are a little heavy, which was expected, so doing my ab workouts on the floor can get frustrating. They keep slipping off my head every time i do a crunch or something of that sort. Im not sure if theres anything that can prevent that with this style of headphones, but other than that music is great. And they are noise canceling.
These headphones fit well on my head, which says a lot as my head is a bit large. They are comfortable over my ears, where others haven't been. And they work very well in terms of cancelling out noise. I didn't give 5 stars because my headphones started to buzz a little, nothing dramatic. I tried replacing cords and such and still has a slight buzz. I don't even notice it when I get my music/show started. I would buy again if needed.
First and foremost, these headphones are fantastic! The audio quality and clarity are wonderful. That being said, they are not entirely as advertised. The short video (commercial) provided in the Amazon listing (which has since been removed) showed the user shutting off the noise of the world around them. Considering the extremely reasonable price for wireless headphones with active noise cancellation, I was expecting Bose quality noise cancellation, but I was hopeful. Sadly, the active noise cancellation doesn't cut out much because you can still hear and understand someone speaking at a normal volume from about 5-6 feet away. However, the surrounding ambient noises are reduced to barely a whisper. This allows for a great audio experience whether you're listening to music, podcasts, audiobooks or watching movies/videos. While these don't offer much in the way of a quiet world while you take a nap on a plane, train or automobile, they do offer an almost fully immersed auditory experience while enjoying your choice of audio entertainment. I ordered a black pair of these headphones to use on my daily bus commute and they are fantastic. I have been using them every day, turning them on and off multiple times daily. The battery life quoted is absolutely true. With daily use, I have only had to charge them once a week. The material/fabric covering the earpieces and the headband feels soft and supple, but also very thin and as if it's going to tear. No tear yet, so far so good. The positions of the volume buttons are very strange as to turn the volume down, you use the volume down button, positioned at the 'top' of the pad. To turn the volume up, you use the button positioned at the 'bottom' of the pad. Not sure how that made any sense during the design process, but it does the job. I also ordered a white pair for my fiancé so she has active noise cancelling headphones whenever we're on an airplane and let me just mention, the white pair look sexy as hell. Not my style, but the chrome accent pieces really stand out and look fantastic. Reasonably priced headphones with active noise cancellation. Great product, definitely recommend.
I am updating this review and leaving my original review for context.
A representative from Cowin named Jane reached out to me about my experience and expressed her desire to improve things. I own a company and I can tell you that nothing is as important as the customer experience. At the end of the day not everyone will love your widget but they should love your company. And thanks to Jane I LOVE Cowin and I hope that my company is being represented to our customers as well as Cowin is by Jane. She was patient, kind and a good listener and honestly wanted to make things right. At the end of the day I upgraded to the Cowin 8 model and I am much happier with these than I was with the original purchase. I will say, these headphones are not going to be right for everyone. They have a unique sound profile which you can read about online. There are some great headphone review sites out there and I suggest checking them out prior to purchasing anything. For me the Cowin 8's have a great build quality and amazing fit. The bass is deep and rich and the high end is clear. But the mid-tones, think vocals and lead guitar, get blended together and there is a boxiness to the sound. With the right EQ you can pull the mids up and bring the bass down and get to a really nice sound. But you need the right program to do that. In the end the sound quality of the Cowins, for me personally, is good enough for everyday use. For some folks it might be absolutely perfect. If I could make one suggestion to the company it would be to tweak the sound processing algorithm/chip in order to clean up the mid-tones and bring them out of that muddy box. Once they do that I will be a big BIG fan. As it is, because of Janes amazing customer service, I will be highly likely to purchase from Cowin again in the future. Way to go Cowin for standing behind your products and for putting your customers first!!!
ORIGINAL FEEDBACK I almost never take the time to write a review, let alone a bad one. Something has to be really off for me to bother. I bought this as a Christmas present to myself. Did the same research you are doing now. Looked at the reviews. All I can think is that this company purchased some positive reviews from China to boost their sales becasue this is the worst sounding set of headphones I have ever purchased. EVER. Sounds like I am listening to music with ear plugs IN my ear and the headphones over them. All the detail and range is just flattened to nothing. Just to make sure I want kidding myself I plugged in a pair of HIFI Lite's that I previously purchased. They sounded so much better that it was a relief to know I wasn't crazy. And on top of it...the headphone jack is not working! The only way to connect was BT. Seriously I hope Amazon reads this and punishes this company for manipulating the results. What a disappointment.
I have had these headphones for a while, after owning the older version. Those were almost perfect for my needs. Sure, the noise canceling was pretty basic, but I was looking more for some over the ear BT headphones, so the noise canceling was just an added bonus.
These look better compared to the 2017 model, and they sound better in my opinion. Everything from the lows to the highs is a little bit clearer, and the lows have a little more "oomph" to them. Battery life is still excellent. They got me through a several hour pair of flights with plenty of power to spare.
There are two issues I have with these headphones. One is pretty minor, the other is significant. The minor issue is that I wish they would extend out a little more. When traveling I wear them around my neck so I don't have to fish them out of a bag. I don't think I have a particularly thick neck, but the headphones always felt like they were choking me ever so slightly. The bigger issue, is the same as others have reported. When the noise canceling is enabled, if you shake your head or are jostled (like when a plane comes in for a landing) the audio will cut in and out. This only seems to happen with the noise canceling, not the regular BT. When I saw others complaining about this, I was hoping it was just a bad batch or something and by the time I got mine, those would have been cleared out of inventory, but it seems like it may be something more systemic.
If you're looking for something to wear in the office to drown out all the background noise while you work, these will be great. If you commute on a train, bus, or subway regularly, you might be better off with the older versions or something else.
