VERY CONFUSING STORY
November 25, 2018
This is a story about two estranged fraternal twin sisters, Lia and Ellie, who were evidently separated at the age of three and raised separately. I found that part of the story very confusing; not enough information about that part of their lives. It’s as though the author herself was confused about that and didn’t know how get herself out of the hole she dug in her story.
Ellies’s part of the story would have been interesting enough in itself without Lia. I think Lia was brought into the story because editors tell authors they need conflict in their stories, but in this case, the conflict brought on by Lia’s story seemed to me to be the result of after-thought. Very confusing and even depressing. Not my kind of story.
Speaking of editors, where was the editor? There were several holes in the story that just didn’t make sense to me. For instance, Lia’s husband was flat broke and running from loan sharks because he was unable to pay off his loan debt, but yet it seems he was able to keep up the premiums for a period of five years (during the time he was supposed to be broke) on a million dollar life insurance policy of which, Lia, his ex-wife was the beneficiary, and she didn’t know she was the beneficiary. Very confusing novel. I recommend spending your money elsewhere.
