“I enjoyed the relaxed and cozy writing style of the author, and I look forward to the other books from the series.” This is what I wrote in my review for "The Secret Community" - book #1 in the series. The sequel is written with the same writing style, easy to follow and engaging. Both books could be read as stand-alone, but as the prequel got my attention I had to read the next one. To my pleasure and with no surprise I have enjoyed this one too. This time the author is mixing another series of the events taking place in the Community with others from the outside world. Due to some repeating nightmares, Damien decides it is about time to search for his daughter, Alice, that Camilla gave for adoption more than twenty years ago. Based on the information he has he takes a trip to the US. For a long part of the book, we are presented with lots of insight into the life of Alice. While this seems to be a story inside the story, we discover that they are more intertwined that one would think. Packed with romance, family issues, abusing relationships, death, and secret affairs this book is another page-turner.
I invite you to discover the details of the story and I will end my review with a question: Is Martin really dead?
The second instalment was just as good as the first one. The pacing in the second half left me breathless, and I had to force myself to put it down at night so I could go to sleep! The Alice storyline was awesome, my favourite part - her trying to navigate her life in a small town captivated me, as did her life after she left. I wanted more Alice! The twist with 'you know who' was completely unexpected and it made the story, that's for sure. A wonderfully delicious twist, which was so unexpected, I had to keep reading to find out what was going on. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because I found some of the conversations, especially those within the Community environment, a little stilted. Possibly that was the author's intention. Overall, I loved the book, and the characters, and the twist, and the back stories. Happy to recommend this series to others, and I look forward to book #3!
What a wonderful thriller, this pages flew by me as I read it in a heartbeat. The author has an amazing style, it is straightforward, simple yet compelling. I had to admit that I didn't know how the Community would tie to the mystery at all, or why or how the daughter was involved. But, they all tied up so very nicely. I am pretty good at solving mysteries, but I had no clue what was happening. I realized I started with the second book in the series but I had no confusion at any point. Lastly, I have to say it was also enjoyable to read those parts that were not directly related to the mystery e.g. the past of the daughter (some parts over there reminded me of the movie walk to remember), I was not bored at any section of this book. Again, each piece was part of a whole and there were no redundancies.
The Eternal Community is the 2nd book in the Community series and it certainly didn't dissapoint.
Damion is the life force of the story. A reoccurring nightmare forces him to go on a journey of discovery, and is only confronted with more hurdles and dead ends...until tragedy strikes.
Meverington tells an interesting well-paced story that more than held my attention. I found myself looking for spare time to read this from the moment I started till the last page. The twists and turns are unpredictable!
The Eternal Community is a great followup to The Secret Community and is told in the same fashion of mysterious twists. The writing is smooth and I found myself wanting to get back to the story each time I had to step away. I was kept guessing about Ethan's 'issue' and certainly didn't predict the truth of his situation. Well done; I look forward to the next installment.
I had enjoyed book number one In the series so was delighted to meet up with same characters again along with some new and be reminded that we don't need stuff in our lives to be happy, that it is the people and family who make it. A little bit of mystery is also fun to have too so I am looking forward to book three in May where some outstanding questions can be answered.
This is the sequel to The Secret Community, where we learn more about Damion's past and his daughter, Alice, who he has only recently found out about. The story follows both the inhabitants of the Community, and Alice, who is going through a rough time. Damion, plagued by nightmares where a woman is crying out for his help, decides to go in search of his daughter. This is a fast-paced story with a twist towards the end that is totally unexpected. Yet again, the author gives her unique voice to what is turning out to be an extremely interesting series. I look forward to the third instalment!
