Loved this movie!!! It was quite a surprise to see that thought it it clear that it was produced on a limited budget, the story line was a very good one. The acting was better than expected and in some ways the ending reminds me of my own experiences as it relates to suddenly, being told as an adult about other siblings I had no knowledge of.
Basically, it's just a story about life. Things that can and do happen to all of us in some ways or others; except, the part about the domestic violence issues. Maybe, this is more information than you wish for. But as someone who's been a domestic violence survivor in a previous marriage; the only thing I really found disagreeable in this movie is for a mother to limit herself to telling her daughter about her own experience with this issue and not do anything to protect her or remove her from this situation. I felt it was somehow dismissed as if, she were telling her about something as ordinary as puberty. Stated as if, it were just a natural part of marriage. Something men do when they're stressed, or as she said: "His manhood" was somehow compromised with the loss of his contract as a professional athlete.
Personally, after all, that I've experienced in a previous marriage with domestic violence; if my daughter were EVER hurt/hit in the SLIGHTEST way, shape or form by anyone; let alone, by the one who looked in her face and before GOD, myself and her father promised to love, respect and protect her, I would take my pearls off, jump into my truck and head straight for Home Depot where I would turn ordinary everyday work tools into torture equipment! Because I took ENOUGH of it! My baby will not! That is the only thing I did not like with this movie. Mama should have made sure he understood her baby was nobody's punching bag. That he'd better head to the gym next time with that nonsense.
