Neat little package, like the bag to keep it all organized, but the paddles are very fragile. 2 of them lost a side of the grip after a simple drop from less than 2 feet. Assuming the adhesive is low/poor quality, didn't cure, or just wasn't applied correctly. Should come with a bottle of Gorilla Glue. (2 star review)
UPDATE (6/29/18): my review was read by the seller and the company immediately send me 2 replacement paddles and a refund check. This is extremely amazing customer service and I am changing my rating to 4-stars. I can't give it 5 stars since the original paddles had issues. But I recommend this product to anyone, and I would buy this product again knowing now that it's backed with top-notch customer service. I am a happy JP Winlook customer.
Very good paddle depending on your preference. 3 Star - I am not a professional but have been playing off and on for several years (too long?). I have competed only once but career got in the way of being Pro. My go to Bat is a Butterfly, not pre made. Just to review, Bat weight is divided into light (<170gms), medium (170-190gms) and heavy (>190gms). A lot of Pros goes for the middle of the road so they can play longer. This one weighs 187gms =/- 10gms. I did find this top heavy. The grip is slippery hence I added a grip, balancing the top heavy feeling. My style of play is fast and aggressive. I can find power with my technique. This has a lot of power in it that I ended up over hitting my mark, a lot. Spin is average. 4 star - So my wife is a very good player with formal training behind her. She kicked my arse with this bat. She also used the same bat. I had to change from an offensive player to more defensive. I was finally able to compete with her with a change of my style. This bat is not forgiving and slowed me down, it made me a defensive player. Control is average for me. 5 star - as I mentioned, my wife feels that it improved her game. She is a defensive player and hits balls more flat than myself. She can do more spin with this, hits balls harder, places better. She "Loved" her new Bat. Who am I to argue. So, as a summary, depending on your style of play, this can improve you or slow you down. It is too powerful for people who can generate their own power, excellent for flat hitters. There is a smell which I find not too distracting. This is common in many rubbers and glues. I have only played with this three times. Longevity is still unknown. I did want to point out that I almost cancelled the order. I was watching delivery very closely. I was a little excited due to excellent reviews. This may not be JP Winlook but Amazon themselves. My Bat came from Tennessee. I ordered this on Feb.25 and was not sent out until March 4, 2019. I did receive this 2 days later. I'm glad that I did not cancel, so did my wife. Thanks JP Winlook.
Update 4/10/2018 Wanted to add that I was contacted by the company after I posted my review below. They were apologetic about the fact that the balls are not performing as expected and mentioned they are working to mitigate the issue. As I mentioned in my original review, the paddles are good quality and despite the slower play, are completely perfect to play with. They do exude a premium feel, more than one would expect for home use. For them to reach to make things right when there was no need, tells me this is a company that will stand behind their product, no matter what. 5 stars for service.
Original Review Good quality paddles. Not as much bounce as from a butterfly set so this takes a little more power when hitting. Should hold up well especially since they are used only once a week or so.
***UPDATE 4 Star*** After contacting the supplier, they replied the same day with assurance that it would be resolved. They have sent two paddles (one new, one used) and some balls free of charge for the broken paddle. They didn't ask for any changing of rating or anything like that, so I am really impressed with the customer service with no pressure. I bumped my rating to reflect the customer service to resolve the issue, but will still ding it slightly for the initial quality issue
***ORIGINAL 1 Star*** I will start off saying I actually like the paddles for their performance in play. Good grip and feel. Overall solid in that regard. What is unacceptable is that I had a paddle break at the handle within the first hour of using it. It was nothing out of the ordinary when I started feeling flex at the base of the blade. I stopped to look and found it was cracking. A little more use and it was just done. That’s really poor quality. Hopefully they rectify the issue and replace the paddle
I bought these for my 30 yr old nephew and looks like I might get another for myself. It has a smooth finish on the pads. Some say smooth is better than raised knobs...He seems to like them alot and the pads almost feels "sticky" when u first start using them..I would NOT say this is a bad thing. They are NOT sticky like glue just more like great grip on the ball. I feel I have to get them because now I know my nephew will b perfecting his spin. Cant let him get the upper hand now can I. These were not the cheapest but are by all means an inexpensive quality set it appears so far...I cant give them a perfect score until I see how they hold up for a while...The case makes it handy to keep with you.. Our town has ping pong tables at the park close to a brewery so we keep descent paddles in the trunk (since some selfish dit-wads take the city supplied ones). Great value so far...
I gave these to my brother as a gift. They really like the paddles but felt they were a little heavy compared to their older paddles, but said they were getting use to the weight. I stopped last night for a Christmas meal and had a chance to try them. I really liked the paddle even if they were a sight bit heavier. I did notice the paddle I was using was starting to peel a tiny bit, and told my brother to put a little glue on it so I hope that isn't a problem in the future. I felt the rubber was good quality and they felt comfortable using a shake hand grip. Would buy again!
Edit: I was contacted by seller about my issues and he assured me they would be addressed in the next released model and says he is sending me a refund. I’ve bumped up the rating from 3/5 to 4/5 for great customer service.
Playability: The paddles have pretty good control and bounce for spin, but the handles are a bit short for my liking. The end of the paddles presses into my palm and ends up mildly hurting after about 30 mins of play. 4/5 stars.
Quality: The paddles feel sturdy and balanced no issues there. The balls are OK, but not great. 4/5 Stars.
Aesthetics: The paddles look fine, although the orange part isn't quite my taste, also the balls leave little imprints on the paddles when you hit them, so not amazing. 4/5 Stars.
They are fine paddles, but I will likely buy a separate one for myself and let house guests use these.
The carry case is very convenient to keep everything on place. Balls are great quality. The only concern (in my case) is the grip on the paddle is too thin and short. I don't know if is because my hands are big for this kind of paddle but my wife has same problem. The other thing i noticed paddle grip should be more smooth but not big deal Overall the ping pong set is really good ...will buy again !!!!
This is a good set. I had purchased a less expensive brand, but wound up tossing it as it was very disappointing . Save yourself some time, money and grief and purchase this set. If you are a hi end player you will want a more expensive paddle suited to your playing style, but these are just good mid caliber no muss, no fuss paddles. Carrying case is nice accessory as well.
mostly happy with the paddles but haven't used the balls yet. Many times the stars are on the ball and not valid to the quality but cannot say either way at this time. Paddles worked fine except that it was a pain to get the protective coating off of them. When removing, it likes to come off in its own way and therefore left a bunch of little pieces that were a pain to get off. Only done 2 paddles so far and both had the same problem.
