Have No Idea How 35 People can like this Terrible Book!
Reviewed in the United States on January 26, 2018
Oh, where to start!
First, I've been reading medieval fiction for decades now. This is by far, the worse book I've ever read. So bad, I stopped reading it 25% through. First, for a book titled "..War of The Kings", there isn't any war! At a quarter-way in, there are no battles, no duels, not even any fist fights!
The portion I read was all excruciating, overblown exposition. And the way the author illustrates which character is speaking is to put the characters' name in italics (ex. "***** William"), then start a new paragraph with William speaking. Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I like the story to weave the characters dialog in and out of the story, so it flows. This doesn't flow - and that's being kind.
Do yourself a favor. If you want quality medieval fiction, try Bernard Cornwell's Saxon Tales Series, David Gilmans' "The Master Of War" series, Jerry Autieri, even Griff Hosker. They are all light years better than Martin Archer.
