This must be the most overrated mic. Like many I was led by some youtube reviewers that this mic is great and maybe even better (“louder”) than rode micro. It works ok if your cameraon tripod but as soon as you start touching and moving your camera, every little bump, tap, static noise gets recorded and also the sound itself is muffled with very limited frequency response not optimized for voice. The build of the mic itself looks fine but the shedding fur and ludacris low quality mount is a joke. Because this mic is unusuable to me on my canon 5div and iphone 8plus, I replaced it wth rode micro and it is so muc better. Much lower noise, does pick up any static, vibration, etc. you can move your camera freely. The sound is optimized for voice recording with amazing clarity and wide frequency response, not muffled at all. In fact I ever prefer it to my Rode Videomic pro that I rarely use. You get much higher quality fur and shock miunt but most importantly sound quality for only $20 extra. It is a shame for boya because I’ve been using their cheap boya m1 Lav mic for a while and it is really great with no static noise or muffled sound, perfect sound - never had the need to try rode for that one. The only reason I gave two starts i stead of one is that the mic does sound good if it’s on a tripod and EQ can improve clarity somewhat in post plus you get a free smartphone cable. But with rode you get perfect sound without any post processing and for any kind of camera handling so no comparison really. Will write rode micro a 5 star review - fantastic value (crispier sound than much more expensive videomic pro)
