Great (In concept)...not so much in reality!

I bought this to replace a Ninja with thermal carafe that never really delivered a hot cup of coffee. The Melitta type of filters seem to make the best coffee, so that went into the search for a new coffee maker. Easy access was another plus. After a couple of weeks, we have not had one pot of coffee without grounds floating in it! This is designed so that the filter is not able to be opened to it's fullest capability, it can only be opened up to an oval shape, so that the brewing coffee overflows the top of the filter and grounds find their way down into the pot and the cup. I tried different grinds, even tried not folding the filter as recommended....no success! I finally tried using the reusable metal filter from the ninja, having to squeeze the round topped filter into an "ovoid" configuration. This snapped the top rim of the filter, but at least it could be tested. It did indeed deliver a pot of coffee without grounds floating in it. However, the finer grind of german coffee that we like does leave some sediment because the reusable filter does not filter quite as well as the paper Melitta filter does. My wife insists that the coffee maker be stored against the backsplash, so the "easy access" pour feature to put water into the reservoir isn't really the advantage that it seemed it would be. It needs to slide out of its resting place every time it's used. I have a roller unit that could be used under it, but the coffee maker is so tall, there is no room to put the roller under it....... Back to the drawing board! Addendum:
After a few more weeks, we gave up on this machine and sent it to the attic. Got the old Ninja back down and my wife was amazed at how good the coffee tasted again.....we just don't use the carafe for long term serving.
