This whole movie had a certain goofiness that actually made it charming. And so bad it was good. The main character, Cal, really wants to be elsewhere, and goofs off, and he is paired by an earnest young Ranger named Hobie, who takes his trainee job seriously. Anyone who has seen the Lord of the Ring Trilogy will easily recognize exact parodies of several of the action sequences. The first one being tracking the soil impressions for the fleeing golfers. Apparently they only had enough money to provide dental make up for one Orc, and for most of the others, they wore helmets. In the stand off, when Cal gets his act together and starts to take serious action, to save his life, of course, it is a puzzle why they kept shooting at the armored helmets, rather then the chain mail which probably would have been more effective. But then again, no Ranger Station would have had an arsenal like theirs did. The entire movie was stupid on many levels, but fun on so many more levels.
