I bought these pillow cases a few days ago, and sent the following note back to the supplier - my email to them helps explain the mixed reviews:
A little feedback about the pillow cases we recently ordered. I ordered 10 sets (20 total pillow cases) - which is kind of a lot, but I wanted a good "stock pile" of matching, white pillow cases and just decided to buy them all at once. I chose your pillow cases because they were 100% cotton, had mostly favorable reviews on Amazon (though some reviews were not great), and seemed to be a reasonable price (not the cheapest, but definitely not the most expensive). When I got them, I immediately washed them all. Then, I ironed all of them, so it forced me to really look closely at each individual pillow case. To be honest, the results are mixed and I think it probably comes down to a quality control issue. There was one pillow case with light grey/light brown stains on the fabric - not sure how that happened since the rest of the pillow cases are all clean. [Some of the pillow cases had a few bits of colored thread (dark green in color, or black) on the inside of the pillow case - wonder if the thread "bled" color onto the one case with the stains.] Some of the pillow cases are made with two pieces of fabric, so there are two seams on the case while other cases are made with one piece of fabric and only have one seam. Some of the pillow cases are made with a very luxurious feeling fabric - thickish and sturdy - while others are noticeably thinner and feel like they are of lesser quality. Overall, my feedback is that they are not great, but serviceable. I'm not sending them back because they are "good enough" and I don't want the hassle of sending back the ones that aren't as good as some of the other ones. But, I now understand why some of your customers gave these 5 stars, and others were very disappointed. You might have different manufacturers or sources for your pillow cases and this might account for the differences. Anyway, I thought you might want to know about my experience.
The manufacturer responded to me, thanked me for the feedback and said that they sent my note on to their quality control team.
