Easy Install and Perfect Install Aren't The Same Thing; Cannot Recommend
Reviewed in the United States on December 15, 2018
I am not impressed by these Power Theory iPhone 8/7 screen protectors. I bought these for my grandmother who just got her first smartphone and easy install must not mean perfect install.
The glass itself seems to be good. I have no doubt the glass will protect the screen from scratches or drops. Touch response is good and it doesn’t get as oily as some other screen protectors.
This is a two pack. You only get one tray. You have to put the second screen protector into the tray yourself and align the sticker. Having to place in the second protector by yourself is not all too easy. Other easy install protectors I’ve had in the past usually come with two trays if they are a two pack at a similar price.
The installation process is so-so. I followed the instructions exactly as they were given. I placed the tray over the device and pressed down on the sticker as instructed. I let it sit for about 30 seconds and removed the sticker. I removed the tray and was mostly disappointed. There weren’t any bubbles, but the screen protector went on at a very slight angle. Why is this a problem? There is still a minor amount of the display peeking through on one side. This causes an annoying rainbow effect and leaves that portion of the display vulnerable. That wasn’t where the disappointments ended. One part of the screen protector did not fully adhere to the display. Lastly, there was a small chunk of what seemed to be glue stuck on the side of the screen protector and it was difficult to get off. I decided to try the second screen protector. Results were similar. It didn’t go on perfectly, there was still a small portion that didn’t adhere fully in a different location from the first, and there were at least three chunks of the glue or glue-like material stuck to the sides of the protector. The right side seems perfect, but a portion of the display on the left from the halfway point to the bottom is not covered.
I just saw my grandmother for the first time in over a week and looked at the screen protector after its been in her hands for a while. It is still on there and has held up well, but the portion that didn’t fully adhere is still noticeable. She said the protector is fine for now, but if I find a better alternative, she wants it ASAP.
I cannot recommend this screen protector. I’ve had easy install protectors from other brands and they’ve not been as bad as this one. If I had wanted an imperfect install, I would’ve done it myself. Quality control seems to be lacking considering the lack of adhesive and the glue chunks on the sides that needed to be pried off.
