Fantastic rock collection for a cheap price; all original recordings.

This 2016 Demon/Sony Music 5-disc box is a lot of fun – basically listening to a classic rock format FM station w/quite a few unusual nuggets or very deep tracks thrown in. Excellent (re-mastered??) sound, & playback volume between tracks is pretty good (a few are very low, though, like Mott the Hoople’s All the Young Dudes), so ripping/burning favorite tracks via computer is pretty consistent. Tracks cover the 60s-90s (w/2 great Status Quo songs from ’07 thrown in – too bad most of their stuff is unknown in the U.S., because they know how to ROCK); the majority are from the 70s & 80s. All tracks are stereo except for Johnny Winter’s ’67 Johnny B. Goode (mono), & all are the original recordings (unlike what some of the reviews here state). Most were singles, but a few are album tracks only (like The Allman’s Low Down Dirty Mean, Lou Reed’s Wild Child, & a fabulous deep cut, Call On Me, from Captain Beefheart & the Magic Band from their ’67 debut album). Included are a number of singles that never charted anywhere, but the songs are great non-the-less (like the 2 J.J. Cale tracks from ‘90, Crazy Horse’s Rock’n’Roll Band from ’72, & Patti Smith’s Gloria from ‘76). The set is 20 tracks/disc, at 78, 77, 79, 79 & 79 minutes each. Song title/artist/composer/label/date are listed on each inside flap of the 5-fold cardboard case – title & artist listed on back cover also. Each disc slides into separate open-at-each-end slots & are very hard to slide out – I used a large eraser on the end of a pencil. BTW, Windows Media Player recognizes (w/a few minor glitches) all the disc info.
