5.0 out of 5 starsSo Many New Features... Full Print Control On the Camera
October 21, 2016
Last year’s Polaroid Snap was fun— a camera with a built-in printer. But Polaroid has stepped it up big time with a new model. I have the original Polaroid Snap and it is great. It’s fun with instant gratification and about right for the price. But Polaroid has taken everything missing in the lower price point version and added it AND MORE to this new model.

What you get in the box:
' The Polaroid Snap TouchScreen Camera
'1 Pack of Zink Photo Paper (10 sheets = 10 photos)
' USB to Micro USB charging cable
' Magnetic Lens Cap
' Wrist Strap
' Instruction Book (a plus because the first model had nothing!)

What you may want:
' More Zink Photo Paper – premium or regular – I suggest the Polaroid POLZ2X350 2x3-Inch Premium Zink Photo Paper Quintuple Pack for Polaroid Snap, Z2300, Socialmatic Instant Cameras & Zip Instant Printer (50 Sheets)
' An SD card (can be up to 128 MB) – the camera will store about 10 photos without an SD card

This camera has added so many features – I’m really impressed in the improvements.
The top benefits:
1. It’s a 13 MP camera – great detail and the ability to ZOOM in and out using the touch screen (in comparison, the Fuji Instax has no megapixels because you can’t save the photo)
2. You can take photos or video – (video is also something the Fuji Instax is not capable of)
3. It has a built-in flash with the ability to turn it on/off or auto
4. It has an LCD display for viewing your photo in advance (as compared to the previous Snap that has a mock-window that gave you a general idea of the picture)
5. It has a ton of control features including: optional date/time stamp; fun borders, stickers, and effects that can be added right from the camera before printing, photo booth (creates three photos in a row that become a single picture)
6. It has been good so far in low light settings. Much more clarity than the original Snap.
7. It has a rechargeable battery via a USB to micro USB cable (the same cable you use to do firmware updates) with good battery life.
8. I has a burst mode where you can take a series of photos quickly
9. It has a tiny mirror on the front for taking selfies so you can at least get an idea if your face is in the middle of the shot.
10. You can attach it to a tripod and there is a built-in timer
11. It makes noise so you can tell that the photo was taken (although you have control over the volume and can turn it off)
12. It has a Bluetooth feature if you want to connect a smartphone to the camera for printing photos. You have to download an app first. I have not been able to get my phone (Samsung S7 Edge) to connect but will continue to try.

And the best feature is……
13. IT PRINTS RIGHT FROM THE CAMERA! How cool is this. It’s about the same size as other point and shoot cameras but it will print mini photos right from the camera. It holds 10 sheets at a time and they can be purchased as regular photo paper or sticker prints. Instant gratification, personal and private, great for sharing, great for weddings, parties, and whatever. The list goes on.

This great feature has been enhanced because Polaroid added this: you can control the print function. On the previous Snap, it printed automatically as long as there was paper inside. But this camera allows you to choose if you want to print AND gives the option for setting the number of prints too.

All of the questions and issues that many commented about on the first version have been addressed and more.

The drawback to any instant print camera is the cost of the paper, anywhere from 31¢ for the standard paper to 40¢ per sheet for the premium paper (and the size of the package changes the cost per sheet as well). The prints are only 2”x 3”. The quality of the prints is actually one of the downfalls. There are sometimes streaks in the paper, although you can get much better quality print if you upgrade to the Premium paper. As a note, the paper needs to go in with the blue sheet face down.

You have the option of taking your SD card out and printing full size or larger prints as well so you lose nothing in your photo control. Firmware updates are easy and instructions are on the Polaroid website. Having your photos to share – other than prints, is a huge benefit over the Fuji Instax. And since the Snap take a high resolution photo, you can print them big or small as well as post and transfer photos electronically. You could easily print a 10x14 with the resolution quality of the digital file.

4.0 out of 5 starsWould be perfect if I didn't have to buy a case
October 24, 2016
Color: WhiteStyle: Base
I purchased this the day it was released (not through Amazon) because I had to have it THAT DAY. :) I'm all about instant gratification. I had purchased the Polaroid Snap a few days before that, but was still on the fence about it and was considering returning it. I had a few issues that I wasn't nuts about with the original. My biggest problem was the cost to print and not being able to control which pictures print. When I saw that the new Polaroid Snap Touch would allow you to choose the pictures to print, and you could even edit them from the camera before you printed, I was sold.
For the pros - this camera is easy to use. It prints pictures immediately from the camera. My kids think it's the greatest thing ever. It was easy to set up and to work taking pictures. Being able to choose which pictures to print is a huge money saver over the snap, because each picture will cost you about 50 cents to print and you don't want to be wasting paper. It's easy to add pictures and frames, and apply a new filter.
The cons - My biggest issue is that the magnetic lens cap keeps popping off, leaving the lens exposed and making it so I have to dig through the purse to find the cap. Also, the flash will pop up when it's in my purse - which turns the camera on. I've realized that I now need a $20 case for this camera because of the design flaws of this camera. Also, sometimes the touchscreen is not as responsive as I would like it to be.
I would love to pull the pictures onto my phone so I could judge the quality but the iOS app hasn't been released yet. I'm hoping that is a seamless release and it all goes well.
Overall, this is a solid 4 star product. Having to buy a separate case for this takes away a little of the thrill of this product for me.

V. George's
4.0 out of 5 starsThese are meant for fun, not profession
January 16, 2017
Color: BlackStyle: Base
*Normal print of pic & added border of same pic*

I received this as a Christmas present and was very excited to start playing with it.
I'm not normally a photography guy so this for me is just for fun, and being extra.

The camera:
Stylish points
10/10 -matte finish, Magnetic lens cover (looks really cool to put on) slightly wider then iPhone 5s but same length (convienent size)

Picture quality (including printed out)
*I'm not into photography, just a regular person who thought this Polaroid is a cool thing to have*
7/10- I didn't expect amazing photo quality, and this is around exactly what I imagined the quality would be. I would compare it to being a good portion better better than printing a 4x6 at Walgreens with your iPhone

All in all, I wanted this Polaroid instead of the Fuji film instax mini for a number of reasons
1.) the ST is about the size of an iPhone, the FFIM is much larger and wider so it makes it inconvient to carry around places whereas the ST fits in your pocket

2.) The power to choose!! Oh my gosh that is handsdown the best feature of the ST, I can recall so many times blinking or just getting a bad pic with the FFIM and having to retake and wait for the picture to reprint before hopefully not wasting more film paper (it's not that cheap) BUT with the ST you can choose which pics to print off, add effects(filters, stickers).

3.) Printing - The ST, when you print, takes 32 seconds and they come out already finished, unlike the FFIM were you have to wait for the photo to emerge from the blank film

Conclusion:
This is a meant for fun camera, it has awesome features the older Polaroids didnt (sadly) and as a product it's a great balance between retro and new age. Have fun with it!

1.0 out of 5 starsDon't bother. The bad reviews are right.
October 8, 2017
Color: BlueStyle: BaseVerified Purchase
I bought it thinking that since its Polaroid those few bad reviews couldn't be that bad. They were right though.
The picture quality is TERRIBLE.
I compared my photos to my friend's fujifilm insta and her photos were MUCH better quality in terms of development and color saturation.
For how much this costs I was very very disappointed. I'm sorry I even bothered spending this much on this.

VINE VOICE
3.0 out of 5 starsA Great Addition To My Toy Camera Collection
January 7, 2017
Color: BlueStyle: BaseVerified Purchase
I consider this to be a cute addition to my toy camera collection, an novelty item, good for parties and sharing photos with friends. Why do I consider this to be a toy? Because in many ways it's a novelty item, but not really a serious camera. It can't compete with a better point and shoot camera or DSLR for photo quality. The prints it produces are tiny, but shareable. The camera interface needs work and is limited; for instance there is no way to format you memory card (which you can separately), nor can you delete multiple images at one time. The aspect ratio is fixed and can't be altered. The touch screen in pokey, and is not full featured--you can't zoom in and out of your photos when displayed to check for motion for instance--you can only do that on your computer or tablet later. The self timer doesn't give adequate countdown feedback so it's hard to judge exactly when it will take the shot--for instance with my experimentation with it my group had trouble staying still for a 10 second delay after I got in the picture, while 3 seconds was almost not enough time. It would have been nice if I could use my cell phone as a remote shutter release with the Polaroid Android app--but that's not an option.

Pictures printed from the cell phone came out with about the same clarity as those natively captured by the Snap Touch. All in all I a satisfied with print quality. The Bluetooth connection is limited to sending photos to the camera for make prints and checking for firmware updates, YOU CANNOT TRANSFER YOUR PHOTOS TO YOUR CELL PHONE OR TABLET. This would have been a useful feature, right now the only way to copy your photos from the camera to a computer or table is via a memory card reader or connecting the camera to our computer via USB cable.

The digital copies of the photos seem to be a little on the soft side, when using HDR mode make sure you and your subject stays very still for the entire exposure or blurring can result. Photos that look soft in the digital copy can look OK when printed--so if you get a decent print you may not necessarily get a good copy to share on Facebook for instance.

The video quality is acceptable, no image stabilization.

The stickers and frames take up too much space on what are already tiny prints for my tastes. Beware, leave extra headroom when taking portraits because the prints will slightly crop your photos--crop them enough that if you frame you photo tightly you could cut off the top of someone's head.

All in all I'm satisfied by the novelty aspect of the camera, it would be possible, if you get a good digital copy to have larger prints made or for you to print out on your home printer.

1.0 out of 5 starsCamera overheats and catches fire!!!
April 3, 2017
Color: WhiteStyle: BaseVerified Purchase
I bought this camera for my 10 year old daughter for Christmas 2016 and she loved it. Conceptually, I think it is ideal for someone her age. She loves being able to take photos, edit them, add emojis, etc., and then immediately be able to print and share the photos with friends. However, yesterday she went to charge it and within 20 minutes, it started smoking and the inside was burning/melting (see attached photo). Now I'm trying to get refunded but we're so far out from the purchase date, I think I'm ineligible. Buyer beware.

1.0 out of 5 starsA huge disappointment
February 17, 2017
Color: PinkStyle: BaseVerified Purchase
Very disappointed in this camera. We purchased two as Christmas Gifts and had to send both back due to power button failure and the screen freezing. We had to return the pink one twice. Needless to say we will look for a different camera! A good idea but the quality and durability is not there.

1.0 out of 5 stars"Sounds like a defective battery and no
June 19, 2018
Color: PurpleStyle: BaseVerified Purchase
I bought this camera for using in scrapbooking and journaling projects. When I first started using it, I noticed that the print quality was less than I had expected. That said, I was willing to keep it because it wasn't my only source for photos and prints. I used it selectively and not a whole lot, printing perhaps a total of 30 prints. So when I got it out after a few months of disuse and found that I could not get it to turn on even though the display said it was fully charged, I called customer support. "Sounds like a defective battery and no, there is no way to replace it. And no, we cannot offer you a discount or anything toward a new device because you are out of warranty by 5 weeks." End of story.

3.0 out of 5 starsAdorable toy, but they missed the mark on the app.
November 4, 2017
Color: BlueStyle: BaseVerified Purchase
I received this as a gift and have so far played with it for about a day. I don't think those criticizing the image quality are being fair. Yes, I can get better quality out of my cell phone, let alone my DSLR. This isn't either of those things. This is a toy for making business-card-sized photo stickers. Let's keep perspective and have fun.

Pros:
- Battery life is pretty good.
- Photo quality is adequate for the job.
- Device is cute, successfully reminded me of the 1980's.
- Magnetic lens cover is a nice touch; I hope I don't lose it.
- Use is simple.

Cons:
- The app is poorly developed, to the point of uselessness or even posing a danger to your Android device. It asks for unreasonable permissions and has not been updated in over a year. It doesn't work on Android 7 at all.
- Because the app is useless, I will have to get a microSD card for this if I want to print any photos from other devices, which is a huge hassle.
- Polaroid has set up a DRM scheme for the paper using its "calibration pages". It's an insult on a >$150 toy. I'd ordered a bunch of Polaroid papers for it when I got the camera, but I'm tempted to get knockoffs in response to the hamfisted DRM, which introduces a failure point into the camera for no benefit to the consumer. Just save your old calibration pages (like the one that comes with the camera) for use with off-brand photo paper.
- The touch screen is not very responsive. This doesn't really bother me because there is a physical shutter button.

Conclusions:

The things keeping this from being a 5-star review are the DRM and the inexcusably bad Android app. I'll have fun with my new toy anyway, but I won't be recommending it to anyone due to these two issues.
