This second Kate Lange is as good or even better than the first. Ms Callow does not hesitate to put Kate into into awkward situations legally, workwise or romantically and it is only Kate's integrity, wit, and decency of person that allow her to come through the maze. Truly an excellent read and a wonderful new character to enjoy.
I came across this series after Damaged was offered as a free download. After reading several free books - I expected bland, superficial characters and a predictable plot.
Damaged surprised me though, and it presented a fast moving, enticing story line. While there were a few predictable moments, overall it was a great read. After finishing the novel, I downloaded Indefensible. It did not disappoint.
Callow develops an interesting, fairly fast paced narrative that does not become overly cliche. While some of the plot is predictable, Kate Lang is an intriguing character. Her insecurities lend for more plausible character, and they create a heroine that you want to see succeed.
I'm generally not a big fan of series because they end with cliff hangers that require you to buy the next book in the series - not so with these books. Ms. Callow is obviously writing about a subject she knows well, and her descriptions of Nova Scotia make me want to plan a trip there next summer. I also want to commend her for the way she inserted tidbits from Damaged without being obtrusive.
This was the second Kate Lange book that I've read. I have to find out if there are more. Does Kate ever get a chance to start a relationship with Randal, or does she rekindle her romance with Ethan? I've got to find out more!!
I was a little put off by the writers treatment of the suspect until reaching the last few chapters but it was probably necessary in the context of the plot. For me it was much more mystery and interspersed with several really good thrillers. . I would recommend this book to anyone enjoying a good mystery and thriller, not that there was a bit of romance to liven it up a bit. A good read.
You know that there are some lawyers that you really don't care for and then there are some that you really do start to root for. This is such a story. Kate's boss is accoused of killing his ex wife and from there is it's just one of many twists in this story. The lady who wanted to take over the firm is one of those lawyers to stay away from.
Another great story in this series. Again, you won't regret getting and reading it.
When Kate Lange, a junior associate in the law firm where she works, is given the task of defending her boss on a charge of murdering his ex-wife, but isn't allowed to use certain facts that would help his defense, what can she do? I loved this book and anyone liking mystery, thrills and suspense will too. Awarded 5 stars because it was a great read. Highly recommended!
I am really enjoying this series. Fast paced and hard to put down. The recurring characters are interesting , human as well as canine. I've never been to Halifax, Nova Scotia, but it's been on my list for years. My cousin Peggy Hynes (now departed from earth) gave me a beautiful photograph of Peggy's Cove she took during her time there. I read voraciously but it's the first book I've found that mentioned the cove. Perhaps when I finish my reading binge, I'll finish my own novels now that my travel ban is lessening. Enjoy Kate Lange and her pup, Alaska☺
