Major Flaw With Thunderbolt Connection
Reviewed in the United States on February 8, 2016
Happy so far. After a lot of research, I narrowed it down to either this drive or a G-Raid. Ended up choosing WD because the fan was significantly quieter and had the ability to replace drives (which only the more expensive G-Raids offer). However, WD speeds are slightly under the G-Raid.
UPDATE: I'm now noticing the same issue another user reported with the drive easily disconnecting if you wiggle the thunderbolt cable at all. What's strange is it only seems to happen when I have another hard drive connected via the USB ports on the front. Either way, it does not make me feel secure about my storage on this drive.
UPDATE 2: Ok, the connected USB drive had nothing to do with it, I was able to duplicate the issue with only the WD drive connected via thunderbolt. Furthermore, I tested multiple thunderbolt cables to rule that out, problem still exists.
FINAL VERDICT: Do not buy. The thunderbolt connection is very poor and if the cable is moved at all, the drive randomly disconnects.
