I always get the third position only. These are sturdy enough. Once in a nice row in the hanging file. I label hanging file on the right with a plastic tab, and folder on the left third position. Your eye follows a line much better than going back and forth. Your files will always be in order, even if you have to move things around. Trust me... I was an executive secretary and office manager for over 20 years. My files always looked perfect, and the co workers always commented how easy it was to find exactly what was needed at a quick glance. We had over three hundred customers. This technique makes your files a snap. You find your file, you lift the hanging plastic tab with your left hand, and your manila folder opens for an easy file drop with your right hand!
Does the job. I have ordered this product twice for work. Yes each tab is stacked together so it does require placing the product in order first. However, for the price that was a inconvenience I was willing to deal with. I am frustrated with being short changed though and kicking myself for not counting the folders the first time I bought these. You see with my second purchase I counted the file folders and determined I was only provided with 189 file folders in a box of 200. Not only does this mean I paid for product I DID NOT get but this also left me without the proper rotation of tabs. Frustrating to say the least! Struggling to assign 2 stars, had I not been short changed it would have easily been a 4 star rating. Smead File Folder, 1/3-Cut Tab, Letter Size, Manila, 200 per Box (10382)
I ordered these for my office, and the price was great, I paid about $10 a box, compared to Staples where I would spend about $20 per box. Since it was such a good deal, I ordered 3 boxes and Im really happy with my purchase. They are very strong and durable and are holding up nicely in the office, and honestly we are pretty hard on our files, but so far no problems.
I hope my experience helps you with your buying decision. This product was purchased at a discount in exchange for evaluation and review without obligations. I work very hard to give thoughtful, honest, and instructive reviews for every item that I order. Some full price, some discounted, and some free. I put a lot of time and honest effort to be objective and straight forward. If you found this to be at all helpful, please give me a "yes" to know that I'm on the right path. If you found error, or see something to be improved, please leave feedback in a comment so that I can work to better my reviews! Your help and honesty is also appreciated! :) While discounts are great, I am truly passionate about reviewing and fully aspire to be helpful to potential buyers. Thank you for your time, and I hope you have a great day!
You would assume when buying a box of 100 folders that you would get 20 of each tab, but NO you get a random number of each tab. In 2 separate boxes I received less that 12 of the middle tabs and random numbers of the 1st and 4th tabs. Now I have 75 folders that don't make a full line across, so I have to buy another box. But it won't be from Smead!
I purchased this 10382 to go with my 10333(same 11pt product, but Rt cut). This is considerably weaker & more flimsy. My guess is Smead subs out the manufacturing & this one met the spec, but the product is inferior. Not what I like, but a good "disposable" folder. Next time I'll look for a premium folder.
Wow, have folders gotten way thinner since I last bought them several years ago. They’re okay, will do the job for home use, but if I had to handle these on a daily basis, I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t last long. Oh well.
The way they are packaged in box leaves them susceptible to damaged - Not the shipping box, mind you, but the box that they are put in before shipping, I don't think it is quite the right size.. We really only got 199 usable folders with our order. They are otherwise really nice basic folders.
Terrible file folders. It’s like they’re made of thin paper, absolutely no durability, contrary to the good reviews. I researched these and used the reviews to make my decision, and didn’t receive what was described. Returned for a refund, the folders wouldn’t have lasted a week with daily filing. Got the durable ones at Walmart because I couldn’t find any here.
Some time ago I realized that the traditional 5 tab file folders made it difficult for me (an apparently others) to find files. There were just too many places for my eyes to search and just about impossible to keep in the "correct" order. Also those little tabs tend to bend and also sort of disappear in a file drawer with many, many files. I have found that with the straight cut tabs I can find files much easier. It's a little thing but when you have worked with hundreds and hundreds of files and seriously questioned your co-workers knowledge of the alphabet you welcome anything that helps and this type file folder does that. So that's what I can say about a file folder.
