Martin Archer has an enjoyable writing style but at times he can be very frustrating.
He needs to check his text for errors and accuracy. His theme is excellent and he writes with an attractive flow but sometimes he can be very frustrating with his inaccuracies. For instance the Mediterranean is a virtually non-tidal sea so one does not leave port to "catch the tide". He needs to check his geography of the Mediterranean. On a passage from Palma, Majorca to Cyprus one would not go first to Crete and then Malta. He also seems to think that Constantinople (Istanbul) is close to the Adriatic - well, its much closer to the Aegean - same problem.
Notwithstanding I am enjoying the storylines and their historical accuracy. I will continue to be a fan but wish he would pay closer attention to editorial and geographic details. He should probably correct and republish some of the Archer books.
