I'm done with this weak series. I find it difficult to believe that anyone can take this author seriously but then I might be wrong considering the strong reviews his books receive.
The author must think his readers are either stupid, illiterate, imbeciles or all three.
The repetition from book to book is nonsense and is just filler. For example the fort in Cyprus, who lives there, who can go there, where the coins are kept, the shortage of pilots, of archers, of scribes, how to fool a pirate, the list is endless is so repetitious and most annoying.
In any historical novel I have read featuring the English long bow I have never heard of an archer holding a knocked arrow to their chest and pushing the bow out to full extension. Unless one is merely hoping to hit something out there somewhere how does one aim or was the purpose to just fill the air with arrows and hope for the best. It is so that even when drawing to one's ear aiming is not really the case and the release is more instinctive but there is some aiming taking place. I have used a standard not a recurve bow many times. I am not arguing that I am right its just I have never read of this author's suggested method.
In any case as I have stated previously I have given this series a serious chance but is just not up to the mark.
I do wish the author well and every success, he's just not for me.
