BEWARE!!! Blue Buffalo Defrauded Customers
February 16, 2017
About 5 years ago I switched to Blue Buffalo Wilderness for all 3 of my dogs and they did very well on it initially. About 2 years back, my dogs began experiencing all kinds of gastrointestinal issues and I did not suspect my premium, grain-free food as the culprit. After all, they had done well for a number of years on the same formula and Blue Buffalo was a company that had established a reputation of high quality. After many vet visits, exhaustive searches of the yard and household for something they might be getting into, allergy testing, etc. etc. I stumbled upon a class action lawsuit Blue Buffalo had settled for defrauding their customers.
To see the class action suit, Google: Blue Buffalo Class Action.
They had been using low quality ingredients and an excess of vitamin D which was causing gastrointestinal issues in thousands of pets all across the country. The company's online reputation has fallen into one of the worst segments in the pet food industry with over 1600 active complaints against them on consumeraffairs.com, and the class action suit was already closed when I found out about it (the amounts cheated consumers were eligible for was a paltry $5/bag).
This is a company that no one who values their pet's health should support. They intentionally misled their customers, put pets at risk, and instead of being open about it have tried to keep it all under wraps. All of my dogs saw their symptoms completely disappear within 48 hours of switching to Canidae Grain Free. I would choose a different product even if my dogs had not experienced health problems given what I now know. Send these guys a message and vote with your dollars by taking them elsewhere.
