1.0 out of 5 stars2nd order that’s dented and won’t work
October 20, 2018
Received a bunch of dented pods. More than half did not work in the machine because the shape was altered enough it couldn’t puncture them properly. This is the second order from JPI (jagged Peak Inc in St. Petersburg, FL) that was like this. The order I received today has 25!!! Dented pods. (See pic)
I tried these for a change. I love that they have all natural flavor because artificial flavor tastes like chemicals to me... it is what it is. I wish the showcases flavors of these coffee pods were prominent tasting. I will say, the coffee does smell like the flavor it is supposed to be. The coffee base is slightly bitter, so I do wish it were more smooth. I usually get the Nespresso dark purple pods... love those, as they are super smooth & delicious! These were ok, & nice to try.
Each one of these flavors is pretty good. I probably like Vanilla the best, but I can see each one appealing to someone who likes that particular flavor. I really like that the flavors do not taste "fake" but just the taste really blends well with the coffee.
I only give them four stars because I've found that none of them quite hit the spot like just a good ol' classic capsule (personally, I love the Volluto). These do make very nice additions to a blended drink though.
(Written by Erica’s husband). Five stars for overall quality, but downgrading to four because of price/value.
My son and I did a tasting of 4 nespresso-compatible capsules. Tied for best taste were Nespresso brand and Gourmesso. Gourmesso wins on price, but has weird quality: I’ve ordered these three times. Once I got exactly what I ordered; once I think I got regular flavors when I ordered a variety pack (e.g. chocolate, etc.). Once I got 45 capsules when I ordered 50 (a weird shipment with 4 boxes of 10 and one small box of 5. How does that even happen?) Overall, for me, the Gourmesso wins – I’ll take the uneven quality control in return for the lower price, but it would be kind of nice to get what I ordered. Third place went to coffee labs. They have very odd flavors, some of which I really like, some of which I don’t like at all. Unfortunately, their variety pack (with some bad flavors) is inexpensive, and their single flavor packs (so I can get what I like), are not. Fourth place was Rosso – I find it barely drinkable, my son does not.
I bought the vanilla, caramel and chocolate espresso pods. I have been happy. It’s an off brand so sometimes I have to tweak the fit into the machine a bit, but at a fraction of the cost of nespresso brand, I am happy with this purchase.
I thought I'd try a variety pack, but I've reaffirmed that I like DARK the best, so I was mixing the one light sleeve with the dark blends. Next time, I'll order my darks alacarte. I love Nespresso overall.
This product was great value for the sets I ordered. I like the flavors, but I realize I prefer more intense espresso I prefer 8 and nine because I add froth and prefer the bold coffee flavors of Roma or Envivo Lungo
I love the vanilla and the caramel flavor but this chocolate one, yuck! It has a very odd taste, I like dark chocolate and this seems to be the flavor I get on initial taste but there is something else that reads a bit floral in taste afterwards. The other two flavors are just enough without being overpowering. I would definitely get those again but next time I will forgo the chocolate one.
Coffee is good. My only issue is the coffee is relatively old. The coffee I received from Nespresso a few weeks earlier was packaged in January 2017. The coffee I received from Amazon was packaged in December 2015. Still within its sell by date. Just something to keep in mind when purchasing.
