After one week my dog went to the vet with an intestinal blockage. Vet said that he sees this often with these chews. They are meant to be well chewed as the chews are very dense. If your dog doesn't take the time to really chew them (as most dogs don't), then it can end up getting stuck in their system.
I was hoping my dog would chew it, but he did not. He first buried it in a blanket in his dog house. When we gave it to him again, he made a pile of rocks outside and put it under them. When we gave it to him a 3rd time he took it back to the dog house again and buried it in his blanket again. He likes it enough to hide it, but so far after 2 hours it doesn't look like he will chew it. He is a spoiled dog and since he has a bad heart, we primarily feed him homemade dog food with no hormones or antibiotics...stuff that most people would love to eat. I didn't want to give it a totally bad review since my dog is not typical.
The dogs love these. I hope they work like advertised. The one just had her teeth cleaned. She will really be my test subject. Hard to give higher rating til they finish the box. Then I can gauge her breath and teeth condition.
My four year old mix has bad breath, even though the vet says there's no plaque build up or health concerns. I started giving him one of these every morning and haven't noticed a difference after two weeks, though he does enjoy them. Part of the problem is most likely that he doesn't chew them very long. If you have a slow chewer, they may work better.
This is our first bag of Greenies. Dogies enjoy them and they have helped the tartar on the rear teeth. However, I've read that these are not good for dogs that need to have their anal glands expressed and i wasn't aware of this so want to call out. Minties, the alternative brand is also popular in my house.
Product is Okay. My little 12 pound Shi Sue dog Rascal will occasionally eat them but does not love them like his chicken Nudgey's. The reason for my only 3 star rating.... My last order on 3/04/2016 for the same 27 oz 45 item box was $17.00 now on 3/22/2018 they have gone up to $27.98... that's more than a little too much inflation in just two years in my opinion....!
The product does seem to work. If my dog has had a few of these over the course of a few days, her breath is noticably fresher. However, I walk her every single day, and she usually has to use the bathroom around this time. I do not give her Greenies daily, but I have noticed that every time I do give her one in the morning, her bowel movements are not formed well and very loose during her afternoon walk. This could well be a reaction in just my dog and not for others, but I would rather err on the side of caution. These just don't seem to digest well for my pup, so I will not be buying another bag. However, I cannot completely slam this product, as it did help her breath somewhat.
If it matters, my dog is a 5 year old long-haired Black Cream Daschund. She hovers between 12 and 12 1/2 lbs.
Better than what the reviews said and I prayed they had no worms in them. My bag came worm free and was happy enough with that. Still I can't say I would buy again I took a chance but the reviews were bad and I was hoping to get lucky and hoping that the company made changes to the process to rid themselves of the work issue.
I can only give 3 stars because I don't know if this is a one time thing. I have had back luck with duck treats on Amazon the 2nd time around so I can't say for sure.
I ordered Tiny treats, but was delivered much larger ones. For a 5 lb Yorkie missing a few teeth, it's hard to chew. Also, I think the order also has an automatic delivery after 3 months, so no idea what they will send then. To the sellers credit, I did not have to send them back.
These are the right size for my little Shih Tzus, but they don't seem to like them as much as the Petite ones. I wonder is the flavor different in some way. I got the Petite first thinking they would be the right size and missed the Teeny ones. So, when I ordered again, I got the Teenies. For some reason, my dogs don't like them.
