A sampling of a whole lot of styles on this great Harry Connick album
July 24, 2013
Harry Connick, Jr. has not been one of my very favorite artists through the years, but he's growing on me. I've especially come to appreciate his talent, personality and humor since I've watched him mentor young singers on American Idol. Mainly because of that experience and because of his insightful comments on music and singing, I decided to buy this album, which consists, I believe, totally of songs written by Harry. It's a delightful CD, showing off not only his voice, but also what I consider to be a tremendous writing ability. It seems almost as if he wanted to present us with as wide a variety of song styles as he could think of. Everything from his great smooth jazz numbers to pop-type songs to Dixieland to gospel...there's something for practically everyone. And as usual, he sounds so cool and relaxed on every one of them. BTW, on a totally unrelated note, I've always been a fan of his acting. A man of many talents.
