The shipping was not great, it was NOT in a rectangular box with 4 corners, it was in a flat cardboard thing (no corners) like it was shipping a poster not rolled up, just flat, so it was all squished, since the puzzle is in a rectangular box with 4 corners. It was a gift so it was disappointing that it looked like it got ran over. The birthday present was for a 5 year old who is good at puzzles. I had to help quite a bit (telling him what to look for on each piece - like a horse, waterfall, etc). It was very difficult on the east coast (the pieces are tiny) and the paper picture of the puzzle is too small to see what the actual puzzle piece has on it so I couldn't tell him what was on those puzzle pieces. The lakes are also tricky. It is cool that the pictures all represent something from the states and that it's foam, but until he memorizes it some more, he will need help putting it together.
Such a great concept but incredibly poor execution. The puzzle pieces are made out of heavy quality foam. Love that each state is it's own piece. Picture quality is okay but has very little context to what the significant fact is for the state. For example Mississippi has a picture of a guitar and yet the fact about the state is that the first heart transplant was performed there. Dislike that you can't see the state capitals, pictures aren't labeled and again the fact that the pictures in most cases don't relate to the "Fun Facts" about the state. This could have been amazing with a bit more effort. Facts should have been printed on the backs of puzzle pieces and been relevent to the pictures or pictures should have be relevent to the facts.
I purchased this for my 6 year old granddaughter and she loves it. It is very educational. It is large so it takes some space to put it together. She has only had it for a couple of weeks, but has played with it multiple times and so far it is holding up. She is good at puzzles, so she does not force the pieces together. I am not sure how it will hold up long term since it is lighter weight than I thought it would be. By the way, the adults love it also.
