I love these Olukai Ohana flip flops. I have a brown pair that I have had since 2007 or 2008 and they still look great. I bought another pair in black and love them just as much. Comfortable, with arch support and can be washed in the washer. They have good traction and are my favorite flip flops ever! The straps look like leather and are sturdy like that, but are all natural material and soft and comfy.
I'm sharing a picture of them side by side, so you can see the pair that is a few months old, versus the pair that is 10 years old. The brown ones have been worn all summer for 10 years and they are still in great shape, although I've worn the black pair more this summer since I got them. Other than the color difference and age (brown versus black), the quality is no different. They have held up well. Buy them, you won't be disappointed.
I got these pair as a Mother's Day gift. My mother has, what I like to call, "Cinderella feet" - dainty with a high arch. It's difficult for her to find comfortable shoes with arch support so I took a chance on this pricey pair. Unfortunately, she got a sneak peak at them and was aghast that her mother's day gift was going to be flip flops. But like the fairy tail, once she slipped them on, it was a happy ending for all. They fit her really well and now she wears them nonstop. They seem to be very sturdy and since she only uses them as house shoes, they feel like they would last a long time. If you or a loved one have high arches, these are great fitting sandals.
I have had a pair of Olukai sandals for almost 8 years now and they are starting to really wear out. I needed to get a new pair. I ordered the same size that I have had for years and they came in and are a tad bit too small. My heels go right up to the end. Not sure what the deal was, but not 100% happy with them. Especially for the price. I have had them for a couple weeks and the side is starting to peel off too.
The left shoe has several tiny bumps around the toe area. The heal of the right shoe has several areas that look like cracks but not quite cracks but are definitely defects in the rubber manufacturing. These are very expensive flip flops and I find it hard to believe that these are not factory rejects. They would still appear as new but would not meet the standards that the manufacturer would set. I am not sure if these defects will impact the wear of the shoe. But if they are defects, that means that Olukai is getting ripped off. But when I pay $65 for flip flops, I want them to be perfect. I will post photos to this review in little while.
I ordered the Vionic flip-flops hoping to find a flip with great arch support. I had to return those because the canvas between the toes was so uncomfortable. These Ohana's are awesome! The footbed is soft and cushiony, and it also provides great arch support. I wear them all day with no "breaking in" period. My feet feel great, and I was suffering from a lot of heel pain. I would highly recommend these over the Vionic's.
The sandal fits well but as far as comfort, after wearing them for a while they make my heal ache. They claim they help plantar fasciitis but it actually makes it worse. I would like to return these sandals
