Top critical review

After seeing pretty good reviews, decided to get this for our 14 month old who is starting to speak. VERY disappointed in this toy - the sounds are a mix of electronic sounds, real sounds, and spoken sounds. The electronic sounds would be impossible for a child to duplicate, and they don't even sound right .. a synthesizer plays for the sound of an "inchworm". An "alligator" sounds like a splash of water.
I could see how this could be interested for a young infant just spinning and listening to sounds, but as an education toy, very disappointed. The decades old "farmhouse spinner" is MUCH more educations than this modern version. My suggestion would be to make one with either all real sounds, or all spoken sounds .. but to put it impossible-to-duplicate electronic weird sounds for many of the animals is not educational at all.
If you're looking to get this as an education toy to help your child learn animal sounds - I'd suggest passing and going with someone else. You don't want them to think an inchworm sounds like a synthesized piano, and an alligator sounds like water splashing.
