Very good compilation, Much better than the previous Singles which only had about 1 hit on it. Actually if you combined both you could probably make a real good compilation. Worth the $$$ if you buy it cheap!
I bought Violator years ago and like it really well, so I decided to explore more Depeche Mode. Unfortunately, I didn't particularly like any of the stuff that wasn't from Violator. I guess I just got lucky with that one, since 4 of the songs from it are on the Singles 86-98 CD. That leaves me with 2 Depeche Mode albums and that's enough for me unless I can sell the Singles CD.
Although this is a fine collection, it contains many songs that are more properly represented elsewhere. For example, the Highland Version of 'Stripped' knocks the crap out of the version included here. Also, you would be better suited finding the Maxi mix of 'Strangelove', and the Split mix of 'Never Let Me Down'.
Many of Depeche Mode's best songs from this period are B-sides, and therefore I recomend that any serious fan tracks them down, as they are not hard to find and contain all the aforementioned mixes and B-sides.
