~~Liberals vs. Conservatives...Analyzed in depth...~~
October 29, 2019
When I ordered this book, I wasn't certain what I would be reading. One thing I did know was that the author's writing would be backed up with the sources for the text. And, yes they are all listed in the note section at the conclusion.
This is indeed a comprehensive look at the differences between Liberals and Conservatives in the political arena of today. When justified, it does go back in our history to cite certain references. This one begins with President Trump's State of the Union address on 5 Feb 2019 and delves deeply into the political divides that exist today...And, it should be noted that this speech was originally scheduled for 29 Jan 2019 but delayed by Speaker of the House Pelosi citing security concerns (government shutdown).
One quote that I believe set the tone for this book concerning the Democrats 'They don't seek solutions but to create turmoil'. Well, that is certainly evident in this country today. These are truly chaotic times and this book will illustrate many of the reasons that we are in such chaos. Once again, the media is mentioned as well as Hollywood..
Some of the topics covered in depth are: The Constitution, Bill of Rights, intersectionality (social inequality - class, gender, race), cultural appropriation, race, and even toxic masculinity! It was amazing to read the text concerning a couple of these for me.
There is more, much more including socialism vs. capitalism. As the author mentions in his conclusion liberty vs. authoritarianism and freedom of thought vs. political correctness are right up at the top of our issues.
I like the fact that the author explains the differences between the Liberals and the Conservatives. And, he illustrates those differences through examples.
Definitely an outstanding read for me as it did educate me in some areas.
Most highly recommended.
