There's been plenty of times I've asked myself "what's my purpose and destiny in life?" I'm enjoying life, however over and above being a husband, dad, and employee, what difference can my life make in the lives of others? As you get older, you certainly want your life to positively impact those around you.
The next question though is "how?" How can you discover, and then make your life more purposeful? As the author says, "don't be the person who ends up looking back on your life with regrets." He also says "A life without purpose is powerless."
In one helpful exercise, the author challenges you to write a one-sentence statement of what direction you'd like to go in life. He then systemically goes through an approach to help you get there. He also helps to break down your small and limiting beliefs. This is no flash in a pan method. The author talks about the time, patience and dedication you'll need to do amazing things. If you want more from your life, this book will help you get there.
“The graveyard is the richest place on earth, because it is here that you will find all the hopes and dreams that were never fulfilled, the books that were never written, the songs that were never sung, the inventions that were never shared, the cures that were never discovered, all because someone was too afraid to take that first step, keep with the problem, or determined to carry our their dream.”—Les Brown
Ayodeji wants you to reach the end of your life having lived out your hopes and dreams, written your books, sang your songs, and fulfilled your destiny.
He’s distilled a great deal of wisdom into a quick read. The Destiny Formula is a book you’ll want to read over and over again.
Success is all about personal responsibility. He explains we all have decisions to make: Choose The Lottery Approach or The Sculpture Approach… The Epicurean Attitude or The Stoic Attitude… Purpose and Priority or Aimless Busyness… Successful friends or Unsuccessful friends…
His Contrast Strategy reminds me of something I have observed called the Power of Fools: http://www.happyliving.com/2015/04/01/the-power-of-fools/
Success is about choosing a life of continuous learning and improvement. Living your successful life without arrogance or apology.
He writes with direct, straightforward language. He’s organized advice in frameworks of thought that you can apply directly to your life.
With lifelong learning, doing the work every day, anyone can transform themselves into their personal vision of success. He emphasizes; “To get what you want, you have to deserve what you want”. Never forget it.
Ayodeji wants you to happily, patiently, and purposefully slug it out one inch at a time day-by-day until you reach your destiny!!

I can’t believe this is Ayodeji Awosika’s first book. His writing is so clear, well thought out and encouraging. He gently walks you through the stages of figuring out what your true strength and calling in life is. Then he gives you the tools you need to continue on your authentic, destined path. In the process, he explains why others won’t take the steps to stand out in the crowd and make the decisions that would make them successful in business.
My husband & I have taught our son about what we learned in business through the years. I’ve already told them that this is the next book we should read and have a family discussion about. This is definitely a book everyone should read!
In summary, here are the words of Ayodeji Awosika:
“I truly believe that success is something that everybody can have. If you figure out what your strengths are and continue to develop them you will succeed. Don’t worry about what other people around you are doing. Focus on your mission.
Like I said earlier in the book, persistence pays. Don’t follow your passion. Work on your passion. Patience and diligence are what separate the mediocre from the great. Whatever you’re trying to achieve is possible if you give it enough time.
You get what you give in life. If you want to stay inside of your comfort zone and never take any chances that’s fine, but don’t expect to live a great life because you won’t.
I know it can be scary to do something great, but you have to push through the fear and do it anyways. The fear doesn’t ever go away, but you build more courage each time you’re able to act in spite of your fear.
Make your plan. Follow your plan. Stay persistent and never give up. If you do that, you’ll have everything you’ve ever dreamed of. “
The book starts by kindling the original calling - what you really wanted to be when you were a child. Then the author recommends certain questions to find out what our greatest strengths are. The author has come up with a method to find out one sentence description of your path and motivates the reader to dream big. (The experiment with flea was an interesting read.) Then the author speaks about lifelong learning. The author stresses a lot on taking actions by giving a beautiful analogy that if we wait for all lights to turn green to be able to drive, then we will never go anywhere. In the last chapter the author has given a very beautiful description of success and ties in all the previous chapters. This was my favorite chapter.
The tone of the book is extremely passionate. While I was reading it, I had a feeling that the author was inside my head narrating everything that's written inside the book. It lifted my energy and made me feel that with persistent action, trained mind, and positive outlook, yes I can walk the path of my destiny. It's a great book to read at the very beginning of the year.
Every section of this books rings true for me. I relate to all the fears, mistakes and misguided thinking – thinking that can only be outgrown by living, aging, and making mistakes. If I had it to do over, I would use this book as my roadmap - it's a guide for finding your path, thinking clearly and positively, developing a relationship with learning that will support lifelong success, dealing with obstacles and more. As it is, I will apply the steps detailed in this book to keep me on the path to a more powerful and purposeful life. I recommend this inspiring book to anyone whose mind is open to behaving in new ways for the sake of happiness and fulfilment. The author has a calming and convincing style. This is a great book.
This should be your handbook for success! I read this recently and the timing of the start of a new year was a good time to read the helpful and practical methods this author outlines. But it's also a book that can be read and read again throughout your life. There are six main areas the book describes as a method to achieve more in your life. Starting with going back to your early years and working out where you want to go. There are chapters on getting your mindset and how thinking big is a good thing. One of my favourite parts was the author drawing inspiration from Stephen Hawking and how his curiosity helped him become a great thinker and immensely successful in his field of physics. While we can't all be world renowned physicists, Ayodeji makes a compelling comparison on how to apply Hawking's life to our lives. Overall theere is a great balance between illustrating the successes and achievements of notable people and giving practical wisdom we can all apply to our lives. Don't be fooled into thinking this book is a read once-and-move-on type of thing, Ayodeji will challenge your thinking in the best way so perhaps you take note and make a change in your life to succeed in whatever your destiny might be.
The book is both an examination of the old narrative that most of us has adopted throughout our lives and a remedy for it. I think most of us are ready to find a path that is more meaningful and fulfilling in a world of ever growing choices and options. It's easy to be overwhelmed by the amount of choices available.
I've read countless self-help books and most jump from one subject to the other, however, this book provides a succinct concise message. The author challenges you to define yourself in one sentence, while this may seem like a simple task, the clarity that doing something this simple provides is immense. In retrospect it's easy to forget why we started certain projects; having one simple statement that defines your mission is essential for staying on the path to growing.
And Ayodeji provides that path, he explains through multiple methods how to follow that path. Using quotes and excerpts from some of my favorite authors, this book is written in a clear concise way that really speaks to me.
The Destiny Formula: Find Your Purpose. Overcome Your Fear of Failure. Use Your Natural Talents And Strengths To Build A Successful Life. by Ayodeji Awosika is a book everyone should read. We all need to know what we are supposed to be doing. There is more to life than living your life according to someone else's wishes. We can't choose a profession or study what our parents tell us. I never told my children what they would do with their lives. I always said, do what makes you happy or what you are called to do. Do what you think you are supposed to do. That is why my son is working on his Doctorate of Ministry degree. Ayodeji Awosika says the same thing and tells us in his book that we all need a push or a guide to follow our dreams or figure out what we are meant to do. He provides us with the information needed to find out what we should be doing and how to get on this path.
In his book, he shows us that we don't have to be stuck with our current lives. He shows us how to get past our paralysis and get on track to live the life or our dreams. We don't dream of that life for nothing. Is it our destiny to follow these dreams? He shows us how to find our calling, create a plan, and turn these dreams into reality.
Find your path, listen to yourself and your dreams, find your strengths and natural talents (we all have talents even if we don't think so or know what they are), and find the approach that works for you. Mr. Awosika gives you several approaches to choose from. He also tells us that one of the most important things we can do is to dedicate ourselves to life-long learning. He describes the levels of learning and talks about how the most successful people are those who have an insatiable desire to learn. I could go on and on about what he teaches us in this book.
This book is a very powerful resource in helping you to reach your dream goals and make the life you want and are supposed to be living. I recommend this book to anyone who questions their current path. If you have decided to follow your dreams and need a push out of the procrastination mode, this is the book for you. If you need help in finding your destiny, this is the book for you. If you just want to grow, and be better at what you are doing, read this book. This is a short book packed with a lot of helpful guidance. Find your path and your strengths and follow your dreams. It takes a long time to become an expert at anything, so I suggest you get this book and find out where to start and get on the right path for you. It is a book I needed to read, and one I need to follow.
It's easy to go through life focused on the day to day grind and checking off things off your endless to do list. At the end of the day you are left feeling exhausted because you have no overarching purpose to anything you are doing.
Reading this book will help you identify your "why" which is the biggest way to motivate yourself to do more than the typical day to day tasks and transform your life. Ayodeji takes you through a journey in a step by step process to help you reflect and nail down answers to questions that you've likely never asked yourself before.
The Destiny Formula is a well-written, thought provoking book that is written for those readers in search of finding their destiny. It is a thought provoking book that I believe anyone who reads it will be able to related to its contents and be able to apply the various steps detailed in the book to enhance their life. In reading the book I walk away with the knowledge that will help me turn some of my problem areas into areas of strengths. It has given me the knowledge to equip me to move forward in my destiny. It is a short read but very insightful, powerful, and easy to relate to. I truly enjoyed the book in its entirety. I highly recommend and encourage you to read it.
