Unlike typical film textbooks that flit from one film to another, this reader contains clear chapters on individual films that also provide the context for that particular film. The choices of which films to include are astute and the resulting collection provides a chronological examination of some of the most important historical films.
A good read for any film enthusiast. Contains very detailed essays for about 50, or so, significant films, from the dawn of film making to all the way to today. Also contains a "How to understand or write a film analysis" and a "Glossary of critical terms," as well as the index. Good Stuff, but it is a hefty read, so heads up.
