No you can not snap the sides back . In you half to take bottoms off in order to change the child .thats the only negative but they are very good at Keeping the child dry with moisture irritation on skin .

Pampers doesn't have this feature. I only used them when Amazon was out-of-stock on Pull Ups. Pill Ups have a cooling sensation when they wet and the character on front fades.

My granddaughter is about the same size. Her Momma uses the 4T-5T and they fit her well.

I'd recommend getting a small pack of both sizes you are curios about. My daughter was in 4s when I put her in the 2t-3t easy ups and they are still a little big. My daughter has always had a small waistline though. Love the easy ups over pull ups. Much better at getting the moisture off her skin.
