No one does that. At least none of the major players: FamilyTreeDNA, AncestryDNA, 23andme. There was an erroneous article published a few weeks ago claiming that AncestryDNA "owns your DNA and genetic information forever," but it was thoroughly refuted and debunked.

It DEPENDS on how you set your privacy settings. You can select PRIVATE, immediate & close relatives or distant relatives or ALL relatives. So like another person said you can also just use initials instead of your full name if you want too.

7/18/18 I sent my mother's DNA kit in & it took about 10 days for them to receive it on June 30th. I tracked it through the USPS (MAKE SURE YOU DROP OFF KIT IN PERSON AT USPS & HAVE THEM SCAN IT & DON'T LOSE THE RECEIPT!) Then after they started processing her DNA her dashboard said the estimated time to receive res… see more 7/18/18 I sent my mother's DNA kit in & it took about 10 days for them to receive it on June 30th. Then after they started processing her DNA her dashboard said the estimated time to receive results was July 30th-Aug 8th or something BUT her results came in on the 15th (earlier than expected!) YAY! I talked to customer service & they said they always say 4-8 weeks but that it depends on how busy the lab is so my mom recieved her results in 2 weeks after they received the kit! waiting on several more family members kits I sent a week after my mothers. Not this test. However FamilyTree DNA does offer another testing product that does test yDNA
