Tha antenna are not removable and I don't know about a connector as I tried setting it up wireless

This wifi repeater/router is not brand specific in repeating the wifi signal. It will work with the ATT router. If the router is not wifi capable, this device will create a wifi signal by connecting both devices through an ethernet cable.

this would be compatible with most internet routers with the possible exception of dsl. you mention your modem but without a router this is useless. many cable/internet providers use a combined modem/router. if you have a single modem with a computer hard wired to it, this will not help you.

I have it in the living room and if I am in there it works well. It isn't as good as I had hoped. It is on the main floor and doesn't reach the upstairs bedrooms.

That depends on what the problem is. What this unit does is provide a relay from a remote area of your house to your home router. So if the problem you have is a poor WiFi signal in part of your house, then it will help.
