Yes, the plastic will color fade after a couple of years and the net will not last as long but your indoor breakables will last longer. That's a good trade off unless you need it indoors when your favorite team plays on tv.

To get the balls through the net? WE have no problem with the basketballs going in to the net.!

The balls are made of plastic not rubber.

Haven't had to air the balls up yet, but there's a traditional valve to insert the needle for airing up.
