On my guitars it seems to slip on and off easily, but I wouldn't leave it on a nitrocellulose, varnish or French polish finished top. I don't know this specific instrument but forward shifted X bracing lands in pretty standard positions. The X brace on my instrument is also forward shifted and the tuner fits fine. Just move it around until it settles.

Your tuner will do this if you are just testing it in your hand. You have to have it firmly installed in the sound hole of your guitar and it should be fine. If this isn't it, I have no suggestions as both of mine worked fine out of the box. Sorry. -Harley

I solved that problem by putting a small piece of card stock on the inside of the uke in the area where the tuner sits. This remedies the tuner falling out during transport.
